You know what’s kind of funny - nowadays it’s the second paragraph that usually gets into the “5W’s and an H” (if even then)! Most of the 1st paragraphs are cute little segues that are usually highly editorialized.
It's amazing how different newspapers have become over the past few decades. I think few young people don't even realize it.
I think it's also an indication why conservative papers don't do as well as liberal ones, despite the claims that the decline of newspapers is from bias...it's really because of the American public not wanting to read things that aren't cutesy. USA Today...oh, what a Brave New World.
