Youve seen him plenty of times on sitcoms; hes the dumb, bumbling, idiot dad, husband and boyfriend who appears useless at everything but bringing home a paycheck. The message: Guys are dumb and women have to lead them around. This, of course, cues the laugh track. Yet a survey from an organization called Children Now found that two-thirds of kid respondents described men on TV as angry, while respondents from another groups survey said men were portrayed as corrupt on TV by a 17 to 1 margin. Clearly, this is no laughing matter.
To highlight companies pushing anti-guy messages, weve compiled a list of the worst male-bashing ads from 2007 and 2008. Whether husbands are portrayed as useless, stereotypical men or absolute airheads, our list of worst male-bashing ads exposes them all.
Check out which worst male-bashing ads are the main offenders.
Number 10 Pizza Hut Need to cook a meal? Better call for pizza because you surely cant do it on your own. In this worst male-bashing ad, Pizza Hut rolls out the tired stereotype that men are completely useless in the kitchen. Take a look at the real world, however, and youll see a much different picture than the one painted in this worst male-bashing ad: Men still dominate professional kitchens as chefs. You can take your pick from the tons of male celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver. Of course you use the microwave, but you can also boil an egg, grill a great steak and even prepare vegetables. You may have grown up on your mother's cooking, but now that you are grown up you can be the master of your kitchen -- even if advertising insists you cant.

If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re just too angry.
The whole thing is depravity. I was just talking about it to another mom this morning. I'm not going to Dairy Queen anytime in the near future because of it. Moms hate the commercial and they are losing business by word of mouth.
What is this “TV” of which you speak?
I dunno about The King of Queens. His wife is often portrayed as wrong or ineffective as he is. And she isn’t smoking hot by any stretch, particularly after she packed on the poundage and rivals Kevin James in the weight department.
My “favorite” is the home alarm ad where someone breaks in and while dad cowers in the hallway behind the kids mom steps up bravely and phones the alarm company
>>BTW: Why oh why did a horsey skank like Ms. Paltrow get cast in an otherwise great movie.<<
I NEVER liked her, but she is very likable in this. Kind of demure.
Robert Downey Jr! Now he is amazing. Just the right amount of cocky and sweet mixed together. I can’t wait to see him in Hulk this weekend. I guess his scene is just before the closing credits.
Then onto Captain America!!!! YES!
Here's one that's worse, and it's not even on the list.
I went to the site to read the article, then I saw something about “Gallery of the Day” and then I forgot what I was supposed to read....
I understand having principles, but:
>>This is always the gay character.<<
Unless it’s Jack Bauer....
This media male bashing is far surpassed by the inequality of the way sexes are treated legally. Women get away with murder, literally, all the time. Just watch any of the true crime tv shows or read the accounts. As an accomplice to most crimes, the male is seen and treated legally(correctly) as if he pulled the gun or knife or stole the money. Females in the same position seem to rarely be seen as anything other than a witness against her male accomplice. Google the Homulka case in Toronto for one of the most egregious cases.
Okay, not the same thing, but that always bugged me.
bump
Agreed!
I have a snappy retort every time my kids needle me for not being "with it": if I'm such a dummy, why do I always beat you at trivia or sports games?
These guys shouldn’t act like such whiny women. So there are commercials with dumb guys in them BFD. Western humor is based on tearing down those with power, men get bashed in ads because we still run the world.
They also get away with Ephebephilia too.
Yeah....*sniff* I’ll miss my friend.
What about the for commercial where the divorced woman “allows” he husband to tag along and see the kids.
Loved that show...and yes...Leah Remini is smokin' hot.
