Good evening. I saw “The Duke” and couldn’t resist. I live 30 miles north of his old “26 Herefords” ranch in Arizona. The place has been bought out but still looks exactly the same. I miss the Duke. He was one of a kind.
To: Vigilanteman
Good evening Vigilanteman.

That is awesome that the current owners didn’t change it.
I wish he was still around.
He sure was one of a kind.

We miss him!
For many years we partied with him and his wife Pilar at the Isthmus of Catalina 2 or 3 weekends a month.
In 1980, a year after his death his family made a very nice donation to my campaign for Assembly against Richard Alatore.

I always liked him as an actor. Just saw "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" a few days ago and was reminded just how good he was. Same for Jimmy Stewart.
My favorite John Wayne movie was "Red River", which he also said was his best. He used the Red River "D" as his personal brand.
