Yes, McCain was born in a military hospital in the Canal Zone. Which was essentially a very large military base. Being born on a military base does not make one a US Citizen. Being born of two American abroad, however, does.

No, he was not…unless his mother gave birth to him in her front yard.
He was born in ‘36. Coco Solo Hospital was not built until 1941-42.
He may have been born in Gorgas Hospital, Canal Zone.
I have read in several places his parents were stationed at Quarry Heights and not Coco Solo. That would have put them about 300-400 yards from Gorgas Hospital leaving the front gate.
Or, if they were really stationed at Coco Solo, Mrs. McNut then gave birth to him in a Panamanian hospital just a very few miles away…meaning he was born in full blown Panamanian (foreign) country.
