What kind of war crimes trials does Obama plan?
American Thinker ^ | 6-09-08 | Thomas Lifson

Barack Obama's plan for imposing unity on the nation after he takes office apparently entails a close look at war crimes trials for Bush administration officials. He has even said so in an interview with Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Daily News.

This kind of change -- putting your predecessors on trial for their conduct of policy -- may not be what most Americans really want or expect from someone with Obama's gauzy rhetoric of unity. But unity has a dark side in the hands of people who regard their opponents as criminals. America has two centuries-plus of history lacking the totalitarian practice of jailing the predecessors when a new president takes office.

This is the sort of proposal one might expect from a man steeped in Marxism at his church, from his friends like Ayers, and as a member of the Alinsky Left. But I am surprised he let this slip............

Obama is a stealth candidate with a hidden agenda. He has big plans for the America he hates so much. The messiah is a devil in disguise.

“what kind of war crimes trials does obama plan”

He would have to go after LBJ officials including Ramsay Clark and McNamara also if he imposes a universal standard.

Of course we know this wouldn't happen.

Imagine if he were to try this and meanwhile things went south in Iraq and/or there was a major terrorist attack?

He'd be toast.

And Bill Clinton for bombing Kosovo without UN permission.
Oh yea, and Kennedy for troops in Vietnam.
This is just fodder for the radical leftists. It makes them happy and makes them shut up for a while.

War crimes trials for what? What “crimes” have been committed? Obama and his supporters are crazy.

We hear so much crap about how Bush lied about Iraq, etc.

But everyone conveniently forgets that there was a full congressional debate about the matter. And even most Democrats in Congress supported the president’s request to have the war authority.

so my question, should Democrats in Congress who voted for the war in Iraq and bills such as the Patriot Act also be tried as war criminals?

Where will lines be drawn? Obama talks up his courage in opposing the war in 2002 when it was not politically popular to do so. What does he think of his fellow Democrats who did not have his alleged judgement that it would be a mistake to invade Iraq? Aren’t they equally complicit in Bush’s alleged crimes?

Commrade, once you have finished the mandatory re-education camp, you will understand that the crime will be disagreeing with Obama. It will not be impossible to make the Bush policies criminal even though the dems voted for them.

“America has two centuries-plus of history lacking the totalitarian practice of jailing the predecessors when a new president takes office.”

That may *CHANGE* to “had a two centuries plus...”

Change, change, change.

Obama’s speech about how we can no longer expect to eat all we want was followed up by a UN speech about how babies are starving while we feed obese people.

Change is coming!

I don’t know the details, but I think Cheney will likely get water-boarded. Just because.

“should Democrats in Congress who voted for the war in Iraq and bills such as the Patriot Act also be tried as war criminals?”

It depends on just who they are. Most, like Kerry, were criminally misled by evil criminals. Others, like Joe Lieberman, were mindwarping criminals themselves.
