It’s not his house. It belongs to the people of Texas.
And it’s useless to them because they don’t live there.
If the Illinois Governor’s mansion burned down I wouldn’t want to pay for a new one. Our guv doesn’t even live there.
And has for 152 years. Terrible loss.
I do not see in the 21st century any need for mansions for governors or presidents. Elected officials ought to live in their own houses like the rest of us. We can use those building as offices and ceremonial centers.
