Well, I have come to the conclusion that Mark Morford of the San Francisco Chronicle just threw away the last tiny shred of credibility he might have had left by dreamily imagining that Barack Obama is so omniscient, so "ethereal" and so messiah-like that he isn't a "normal" human being. Maybe Mark thinks he might be an alien from another planet, some trans-dimensional traveler, or maybe an angel come down in human form to lead us sheep into the promised land? I'm not exaggerating either. In his latest piece he calls Obama a "Rare Kind of Attuned Being," a "Lightworker," he says he is "ethereal" and "magical" -- hello Rush Limbaugh -- and feels that Obama is "not really one of us" in the "normal way." Morford and those who feel like him have lost all touch with reality and the sickness is spreading.
I think that columnist Morford is off his medication, or maybe he's just drunk, or perhaps he fell on his head recently? Or perhaps Shirley MacLaine came down off the mothership and stole Mark's computer... something freaky is going on there in San Francisco, anyway. Or maybe what makes me think something weird is in the air out there is just that Morford's latest editorial is one of the most amazing examples of the wild eyed ranting of the most whacked out Obamessiah believers yet to show up in print instead of just on the nutrooter blogs. Instead of appearing in a purportedly legitimate newspaper, this is the fodder for the fantasy land of a Coast to Coast with George Noory. Instead of serious political discussion, this sort of thing belongs on Jerry Springer.
But get ready to see this sort of insane euphoria spread as Obamessiah dons his no lapel flag vestments and deigns to appear before the people who love him unconditionally, uncritically, and uninformed of anything he really stands for.
I won't bore you with his whole, nutty piece, but here are just some of the lowlights of Morford's slavish devotion to the political Svengali that is Barack Obama.
Have you lost your lunch yet? Well, you may not have lost your lunch, but this pseudo religious tripe may be proof that Morford has lost his sanity!
Naturally, Morford had to revel a bit in his Bush Derangement Syndrome and regurgitated several slams against Bush, but the real message of this rambling little editorial was in this one little segment nestled deep in Morford's ranting.
(not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual)
And there you have it. Like most extremists, leftists Morford pretends to stand against religion when all the while he is looking for something man made to replace it. Acting as if he is too smart, too cool for superstitious religion, Morford replaces centuries old teachings with this whacked out, new agie, childishness in this case built on a mere politician. But, even as he creates his newfangled religion, like all leftists, he has to attack everyone else who subscribes to a real religion. He must belittle, degrade and ridicule religious people everywhere.
Of course, Morford realizes how silly he sounds to be as starstruck as a 13 year-old girl that is infatuated with the latest rock-n-roll boy band. He even gets so defensive about it he preemptively calls everyone one who will look at him askance all sorts of names.
This is what I find myself offering up more and more in response to the whiners and the frowners and to those with broken or sadly dysfunctional karmic antennae - or no antennae at all - to all those who just don't understand and maybe even actively recoil against all this chatter about Obama's aura and feel and MLK/JFK-like vibe.
I see, so if you don't "get" the Obamessiah fever you are "sadly dysfunctional"? It seems to me that Morford is working himself up to consider "unbelievers" in the same way Torquemada did in the 15th century! Is Morford too far from burning Obama deniers at the stake?
This sort of unrealistic, deification of Barack Obama is the sort of thing that can easily propel him into the White House. It is also the sort of thing that can cause people to imagine his presidency to have been, in hindsight, a bitter disappointment. What sane person cannot realize the expectations for an Obamessiah are simply impossible for Barack to live up to?
You think Clinton's years in office were retrospectively considered the most wasted opportunity in a life time? Wait until a president Obamessiah turns the big White House key over to a Republican to hear the lamentations of the faithful begin to ring out. The "bitterness" will likely be unbearable.
So, I have an idea. Let's defeat Obamessiah and forego all the gnashing of teeth and wearing of sackcloth that will surely be the result of an Obama presidency!
And if Mark Morford has a nervous breakdown because of it all... well, I don't know about you, but I am willing to risk that happening.

Creepy, no? Do you think there’s a resemblance? I sure did.
Many spiritually advanced people I know identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve.
Get back on your meds, asshat!
Christians will be running for the hills within five years, I guarantee.
I’m already half packed.
They realize that Obama is an empty suit so they have to create an image that is beyond anything that can be touched.
Too much information.
It may well be the truth. You're not a loony; the point of view is actually quite lucid given what we are seeing now.
Now that you mention it, yes.
That movie was extremely disturbing to me on a [seemingly] subliminal level.
Perhaps my subconscious was trying to ‘slap me aware’.
I’m sorry if this sounds weird or judgmental, but ‘he who must not be named’ literally makes my skin crawl.
*Every* time he comes on TV, I instantly change the channel, just as if some violent video of animals or humans being harmed had come on, instead.
I can’t shake that reaction....or even explain it.
Something inside of me reacts [and recoils] as if he were something akin to a mortal enemy or unspeakable evil.
Just me spouting ‘silly woman talk’, I guess.
No, they really believe he is the messiah, a spiritual creature, and ordinary political savvy and effectiveness is not a metric by which you measure messiahs, rather "how in tune with the light" is how you measure messiahs.
More like “Light in the loafers”.
Mr. O has is giving off gay-dar signals all over the place.
The Politico is reporting that Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D, IL) said Obamas victory “overwhelmed him.”
“I cried all night. Im going to be crying for the next four years,” he said. “What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nations political history. ...The event itself is so extraordinary that another chapter could be added to the Bible to chronicle its significance.”
I don’t know what type of psychics this Morford guy has been talking to, or what kind of spirituality they profess to follow, but I know a few myself (the majority of whom are more Christian Mystic types), and they are as scared of Obama as we are...
The fervor of the Obama supporters, and their ultimate hope and belief in him as a savior (even if they don’t use the word) is sad, and terrifying... I know that saying he is an anti-Christ puts a lot of people off. I hope we are not even CLOSE to that day, frankly. But, he definitely has the hallmarks of a “false prophet”.
Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one. Obama really creeps me out. I thought that Kerry was just your basic dumb leftist idiot and I knew we would have been in big trouble if he had won, but I didn’t think he wanted to be Master of the Universe and I thought we’d survive. Obama is a whole different thing, and I am not sure how long we’d last if he gets into power. He has an entirely different plan.
You and Dead are hands down the funniest guys on FR.
So am I. Once I saw this commie's crazy "Yes We Can" video (shades of Triumph of the Will), I started paying down my credit, packing my excess belongings, and started to get serious.
I'm less than four months from being debt free. I've got a decent supply of ammo and enough non-perishable food for several months, my car's paid off, and I can shut down my business within a couple-three more months. Then I'm off the grid and heading to Wyoming or Utah - the two most reliably free states in the West.
I'm not optimistic at all about this election because the Media has telegraphed exactly what it intends to do. Hell, look at the Friday headlines and you'll see that they intend to force this election for Herr Obama. The media's chosen its' side in this election and is not going to hesitate to broadcast anything at all to make absolutely sure that Obama wins. Watch, and I'll bet that within two months there'll be massive, widespread hit pieces against Christianity, hit pieces against rural Americans, and open attempts to subvert or repress the military and "red state" votes in advance.
I think we're a cat's hair away from some Uncle Joe-style repression and we're going to be the targets.
You are far from alone in wondering about this. THEY are the loony ones... You obviously are one with eyes to see, and ears to hear, as the passage goes.
I was commenting to my husband last night that when people turn away from God, such as most atheists, there is a HUGE gaping hole left in their heart/soul. It is this hole that is able to be filled up by whatever “savior” they then choose - most of the times this hole is filled by their heads with “science”, “intellectualism” or “skepticism”, or in other cases just pure anger and hatred.
Obama has (knowingly or unwittingly) used this to his advantage, and has begun to fill this hole with his false promises of peace, and utopia for all... And, knowing no better, they are swallowing it wholesale - because they WANT to believe. It’s unfortunate, but it is all part of God’s plan. Just remember - the good guys win in the end.
Masterfully put.
What concerns me is the fact that, for a long time, I’ve developed a knack [or whatever you call it] for “ sensitivity” and this particular being sets off alarms all over the place.
This is no exaggeration...I am literally physically sickened by him.
I avoid all news shows now just to minimize the risk that I’ll have to look at him.
Every election cycle makes me jittery about the outcome, sure, but I’ve always consoled myself that either way, it’ll just be more of the same ol’ same ol’....but not this time.
There’s just an unbearable electrical heaviness in the atmosphere, if that makes any sense.
[shibumi, explain this for me]....LOL!
