Old FRiend, this is going to be tough. When it comes to pulling the lever, sure, but actively support is another issue. Personally, I am waiting until he announces his VP choice. For me this will make all the difference as it represents the long term trend of the party and the country. If it is someone like the Florida governor, it will be tough to even pull the lever. If it is Palen, however, I will max out my donations and do everything in my power to support the ticket.

No, there is one reason, a simple reason, or rather, a simple question:

Do we FReepers want to win the War in Iraq, that’s it, do “we” want to sacrifice our better views in favor of winning that war?

Does Conservatism require a Victory for the United States in Iraq?

Yes, it does.

Is there a crystal clear choice in Election 2008?

Yes, this time there is, we can win the War, or we can cut and run and lose the War, that is in our hands, the choice is ours to make, do we throw the Sacrifice of the men and woman who have fought, bled and died and been handicapped under the Bus or “Purity Posts”?

Nay Nay gentle FReepers, how can we turn our back on that blood, sweat and Sacrifice of the Best Among us?

I submit, we cannot, I hate the thought of a Global Warming Tax (sic) I despise the thought of Shamnesty, I curdle at the thought of Gun Shows being shuttered.

What bothers me more deeply, and logically, is the thought of allowing the United States to lose in Iraq, in the words of General Patton:

“Losing is HATEFUL to a REAL American”

Indeed, that cuts to the quick of my soul, nay gentle FReeepers, let us Support Mad Jon McCain, and let us then support real Conservatives in local, State, and Congressional Elections...

To not support Mad Jon McCain, is to support losing, I cannot do that.........ever...nor do I believe that my fellow FReeper Community wants to see that either.

McCain loves to repeat the canard that "we can't deport all illegal aliens" but he thinks keeping them all is a moderate position.

Here are the Senators who voted against the Cornyn amendment , which would have established a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals looking to snag a shamnesty visa. Republicans underlined:

Never forget McCain not only pushed the amnesty bill, he refused to allow exclusions for the worst of the lot.

> A choice between John McCain or Barack Obama

We're hanged with either one. With McCain, we get the option of choosing which rope they use, and how long we get to swing from the gibbet.

No thanks.

The country's going down either way. But those don't have to be my fingerprints on the gun.

Why not Cthulu?

Cthulu supports use of slaves to build his temples but only as a means of offsetting global warming and I can not support another global warming alarmist supreme overlord.

Commies to the left of me, liberals to the right of me, and globalist all around. I will have to decide when I stand in front of the machine.

> choice between constructionist judges or liberal judges who legislate from the bench

And exactly how many constructionist judges will McCain be able to slip past a Dem-controlled Senate?

1: vote for McCain
or
2: vote for socialism, higher taxes and curtailed liberty.

There's a difference?

The funny thing is, if the candidate were Hillary Clinton, the individuals on this thread who would sit back and let give Obama the presidency instead of vote for McCain, would be knocking on doors and driving their neighbors to the polls.

Rovian political maxim #443, “Tell the voters if they don’t vote republican the country will go hell; This gives the candidate license to piss on their leg and tell them it’s raining”.

A choice between free market capitalist economy or socialism.

McCain has not proven to be a free market capitalist.

A choice between constructionist judges or liberal judges who legislate from the bench.

Not so fast, McCain was in the gang of senators that were for "balancing" the court, and he loves to appease the media and Democrats.

A choice between Life for the unborn or abortion on demand going wild.

My last comment still stands.

A choice between lower taxes or higher taxes.

McCain was against W's tax cuts before he was for them, and hasn't been very clear about protecting my income bracket from confiscatory taxes.

I notice you didn't mention illegal immigration.

Which depends on the corollary, “if the Democrat wins, the country will go to hell.” Anyone care to argue the corollary isn’t true?

I don’t understand how anyone who loves this country would not vote for McCain..he’s not what we would have liked...but he understands the terror thing..he’s pro-life...he’s somewhat against big government spending....those are big things....If it were Hillary, I’d say it’s a wash..either way...but it’s Barack Obama...OBAMA..alot can happen in four years. Things we could never recover from even if a Reagan like leader were to emerge. It’s early, the wounds are still fresh...but I pray that people here and everywehre will look into their souls and do what’s best for this country, not for the party.

We’ve had two decades of statists in the White House. I don’t relish another four years, but there’s the chance that we’ll get a Carter reset...and that might be worth it.
