Dear Freepers: It is Time to Support John McCain
June 5 2008 | jveritas

Posted on 06/05/2008 6:25:12 PM PDT by jveritas

In this election we have very a clear choice to make.

A choice between Victory against Islamic Terrorism or surrender to our terrorist enemy.

A choice between free market capitalist economy or socialism.

A choice between constructionist judges or liberal judges who legislate from the bench.

A choice between Life for the unborn or abortion on demand going wild.

A choice between lower taxes or higher taxes.

A choice between small government or big government.

A choice between John McCain or Barack Obama.

Let us choose John McCain. A Patriot, a war hero, and would be an excellent President.

God Bless America and our brave troops.

Cthulu supports use of slaves to build his temples but only as a means of offsetting global warming and I can not support another global warming alarmist supreme overlord.

But if you don't support Cthulu, the terrorists win! ;)

> A choice between small government or big government

All three of those will go bye-bye, thanks to McCain's slavish devotion to the global warming fallacy. It will wreck the economy and drive up the price of everything. And the (possibly veto-proof) Dem-controlled House will come up with the same old solution: "more taxes" will solve all the problems.

JV, I will vote McCain. Though not my candidate and not happy with some of his stances, I will gladly vote for him over Obama.

“Never forget McCain not only pushed the amnesty bill, he refused to allow exclusions for the worst of the lot.”

Consider me as having a very long memory about a number of issues I consider to be sell outs to conservative principles, and in the case of McCain Feingold a direct attack on free speech.

The man has done about all he can to stick fingers in the eyes of conservatives the last decade, and now we’re supposed to rally behind him, trust him and pull the lever for him because he “might” be slightly more to the right than Hillary?

The WOT has two fronts - one being fought overseas and which I approve. The second is the borders and they are flipping wide open. So if the WOT is so important, then why has a Republican like McCain insisted on amnesty for existing illegals? His plan opens to floodgates to millions more in the sham of a “guest worker” program which will be overseen by the same lame ass wink & nod types now not enforcing the law.

On justices, there’s no chance McCain could nominate and successfully appoint a slightly decent judge against a rat Congress. In fact, I have so little faith in the man I think he’ll sell out to “cross the aisle” more times than not on critical votes.

Bloody TROLL! Go away, and do not return !

Supercharged Merlin - joined 3 Mar 08

jveritas - joined 2 Oct 01

You might want to rethink this one newbie.

While I don't agree with jveritas on this particular topic he is one hell of a Patriot and FReeper.

Take a look at his posting history. He's been translating documents proving Saddam maintained illicit weapon programs in defiance of his surrender agreement. What have you accomplished?

The funny thing is, if the candidate were Hillary Clinton, the individuals on this thread who would sit back and let give Obama the presidency instead of vote for McCain, would be knocking on doors and driving their neighbors to the polls.

I believe the candidate will still be Hillary Clinton and I'm still not voting for McCain. We won't know for sure until after McCain-Feingold kicks and and no one can advertize against the Dim (McCain won't and his law will prevent anyone else from doing so.)

Most of us here will hold their noses by voting for McCain in November. But many here think they'll gain in 2 to 4 years with a Marxist at the head of our government, the "Rebound Effect." The only thing that'll bring is a huge amount of bad legislation to dig out from let alone that the economy will tank if Obama and his supporters get their way. And in the meantime, Obama will make the US of A and our interests around the world vulnerable to attack because he will dismantle the US military.

With McCain, the hole will be smaller to dig out of. The key here is to keep the Senate and House as close as possible. Obstruct obstruct and obstruct as much as possible - just like the Dims taught us over the last few years. Our form of government is made to go slooooooooow.

a choice between a full liberal and a half-ass liberal. McCain isn't a conservative.

JV, I admire your spunk.

But Juan McAmnesty gets no vote from me.

Since he turned his back on his fellow Vietnam POWs in 1992, I am returning the favor in the only way I can.

Since your name means “the truth”, here’s the truth:

John McCain believes in the same policies as Obama and Clinton.

And I don’t.

Very true, and believe me, no one has fought against Hillary harder than I have. My computer is FULL of anti Hillary animation and graphics.

Now we have an even scarier foe.

Dave, we agree. It's one thing if, like Rudy or Mitt who may not have BEEN conservative but at least courted us and acted like they wanted our votes and our support. But McCain completely gives us the finger. He doesn't even WANT our support.

The situation is very much like an abusive spouse, and I won't go there. Let Big O screw the country up so bad that Dems can't get elected for the next 40 years.

That is absolutely wrong. In fact it was McCain who made it possible for Roberts and Alito to get approved by the Senate. Yes his Gang of 14 made it happen whether you like it or not.

Yes, but Cthulu is good on the chocolate rations. Where does Zod stand on that?

I lived through the 70's.

The Saudis and other Arab nations easily capped US economic growth by several percentage points throughout the 70's.

Iran humiliated America during the Carter administration.

The Soviets, while having a hard time in Afghanistan, would have eventually taken over if Carter had a second term.

I'm sorry JVeritas, McCain will only impede progress on conservative principles. He will bully Republicans into going along with his liberal agenda. This will have more lasting repercussions than an Obama administration.

If you think McCain will really appoint conservative judges, lower taxes or reduce the size of government, you are deluding yourself.

And despite the rhetoric, the troops in Iraq aren't going anywhere under Obama. The media, which has remained silent on the significant progress being made there, will all of a sudden start printing and broadcasting the dramatic success US troops are having in Iraq since Obama was inaugurated. Obama himself, will tell America that despite his pledge to remove the troops from Iraq, given all the great things happening there, he will likely keep them there until Iraq is on it's feet.  And everyone will cheer and be so thankful that Obama was elected.

The struggle against Jihad will be a long one JVeritas.  There will be good and bad leaders of America during this clash of civilizations.

It more important that we stick to our principles.  McCain be damned.

I am tired of all this talk about 'the country will go to hell' or 'we are already a screwed third world country'... jeeze, we are the United States of America. We've overcome Civil War, World Wars, Depressions, Recessions, Carters and Clintons; the worst of the worst this world has seen and yet we always grow stronger. WhinoCons are invested in suffering. Sure, all our choices suck, but this is the USA, we will overcome. We are blessed with a system where basically, every two years we can change our government. More importantly, we are Conservatives darn it! Our personal success should not depend on who wins elections. We don't need anyone coming in saying 'I'm from the government, I'm here to help'... if they do, even if they have a big R tattooed to their forehead and they sound Conservative, we should still say 'no thanks, I'll take care of it myself.'

IMHO, WhinoCons are just as bad as RINOS. RINOs give up the Conservative principles of limited government. WhinoCons give up the Conservative principle of Individualistic Optimism. Both are dangerous.

No offense to you 1rudeboy, I just had to get that off my chest and you left an opening.

Why did your comment (post #27) get removed? I saw nothing warranting it being pulled.

To answer your question (from your pulled comment) Dane had been a longtime FReeper and was also a troll. Danes final zot was rather anti climatic...

jveritas just seems a little misguided.
