WARREN, Mich. -- Police said 20 to 30 men who brutally attacked and robbed a motorist Saturday night may also be responsible for several other violent crimes that took place the same day.
Four people were taken into custody for questioning after a motorist was beaten unconscious.
Police said the incident took place when Andy Kauffman, 29, and his wife, Angelina, were driving on North River Road when more than two dozen men wearing ball caps and baggy shorts spread out across the street and blocked traffic.
Kauffman tried to drive past them and someone threw a brick in his window. Kauffman stopped his car and got out to see what happened.
"At that point at least 12 of the subjects jumped on him, beating and kicking him several times to the point where he was unconscious," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said. "A second man then got out of the car and also was attacked, but not nearly as bad as the first individual."
A short time later, police were called to a gas station nearby for a fight.
A man who was using the pay phone was beaten. He was not seriously injured, police said.
Police said there were several incidents within a few hours and they fear the same group of attackers was involved.

Comments like yours, in which you brag about your own shooting prowess while insulting others are particularly ill-advised on an anonymous forum since you don’t know with whom you are actually conversing and you have no idea how slowly or quickly that particular person can bring a weapon to bear.
More to the point, however, I did not ask you how quickly you can get off three rounds from your Glock. You stated that a .357 magnum is “over-rated”. I asked if you were volunteering to be shot by one of those “over-rated” .357 magnums? Please answer YES or NO.
PS - I have “personal knowledge” of people who can draw, aim and accurately EMPTY a SINGLE ACTION revolver in less time than even a “quick” semi-auto shooter can do the same. There are some VERY talented shooters out there who have practiced their craft A LOT. Not everyone who prefers a wheel gun is just a “perp shooter” — so I recommend you be VERY careful at whom you point that Glock.

Our legislature passed similar legislation a few years ago but in Houston the RINO DA (who got hounded out of office over an office romance and racist emails) said he would still prosecute anyone his police caught as a "felon" and let you appeal it up to the Texas Supreme Court.

When surrounded by a group of hostile people and you are in a motor vehicle, do NOT do what he did and exit said vehicle.
Back away rapidly or if that’s not an option, floor it and aim for the smallest concentration of bodies in hopes of breaking through with minimal casualties. Or if you’re angry at being victimized, choose the largest concentration in hopes of taking out the trash.
A large group of people surrounding you at night are NOT asking you to contribute to the Policemen’s Benevolent Association. But on the slim chance they are indeed PBA representatives, I doubt they are going to be satisfied with just a handful of change anyway if they have you surrounded.

In short yes and I do not think a few bodies will stop my truck. This guy made it through and then stopped to see what they threw at him. Stupid.
I will say this, if I am at an intersection/street and have my wife/kids in the car and a gang of ner’do wells are blocking the road you can bet your house if I feel unsafe I will run through a crowd or use my holstered Glock 32, either will achieve the same result.
I’d rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6 and my kids will never ever see me take a beating from a crowd of losers as long as I have bullets.

Roadblock is roadblock. No, I don’t think so. Both of the family vehicles are four wheel drives. I do believe that I could drive through a crowd 50 people deep in my 1 ton truck without any difficulty. Human bodies come apart literally with little effort. We aren’t built to withstand the force of machines.
Ever notice how even a small bump produces a bruise. Our skin can be cut with a piece of paper. Our bones are merely twigs when compared against steel. There was good reason that your mother got upset when you played in the street.
I doubt those talented shooters are in a gang of baggy pants losers blocking an intersection. I commend his confidence and willingness to exercise his right of self-preservation. I feel the same, I can beat anyone in that crowd to target acquisition before they can pull their XXXL Shaq jersey up to find their piece.
I had many years of experience as an LEO and I can say that when our department went from N and K frame S&W .357 magnum to Sig auto shooting scores and proficiency went up overall. It is easier for the average person to wield a semi than a heavy barrel, heavy recoil .357 DA revolver and that is a fact of life.
However, I will show this article to my 16 year old. She is bugging me to "teach her how to drive in Detroit" so she can go shopping. I guess I will just tell her she can shop anywhere she wants as long as there is no tunnel or bridge involved.

Along that thread of thought, one VERY good answer which I have heard for those who oppose carrying handguns and who ask “Why do you think you NEED a gun in _______ situation?”, is as follows:
“I DON’T think I need a gun in _______ situation. If I thought I NEEDED a gun, I would carry both a semi-auto shotgun and a semi-auto rifle into _________ situation. I carry a HANDGUN because I do NOT think I will NEED a gun in ________ situation; I carry it just in case I am WRONG.”
Handguns are great, I love them, but they are NOT the ideal weapon to have when you NEED a gun or guns in a particualr situation.

Yes. But the origin of the discussion was in regards to one of the weapons I choose to carry to defend myself. NOT the weapon(s) carried by gangsters.

I own many handguns. I carry both semi-autos and revolvers at various times. I am reasonably proficient with both types of handgun. I LIKE both types of handgun.

Seriously, if you couldn’t understand that 99% of my post was satire, infact as so indicasted by the little emoticon on the bottom, then someone has been tinkling on your Wheaties waaaaaay to much!
In reality, no I wouldn’t want to take a .357 round, but a modern automatic is much better for self defense purposes.
