CLINTON TO DROP OUT OF RACE FRIDAY
nypost.com ^ | June 4, 2008 | Post Staff Report

Posted on 06/04/2008 4:30:44 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

Sen. Hillary Clinton will drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination Friday, The Post has learned.

Her decision ends speculation about what she would do after Sen. Barack Obama captured the nomination yesterday.

Last night, a defiant Clinton conceded nothing to Obama.

In a speech at Baruch College, Clinton said she needed time to consider her next move.

Clinton ran down the list of every state she has won, trumpeted the nearly 18 million people who voted for her in this year's contests and demanded that her supporters be given "respect."

Clinton also said she had won the "swing states" needed to get the 270 electoral votes to capture the White House, as her supporters broke into chants of, "Yes, we will!" - a dig on Obama's slogan, "Yes we can!"

But today party leaders began calling for Clinton to drop out, hoping that such a move would encourage party unity.

"I don't see why we don't get on with it and endorse [Obama]," said Rep. Charles Rangel, a Clinton supporter. He said it was only a matter of time before he and other Clinton supporters formally back Barack.

You are right.

I saw the same interview, which is what inspired my post.

Morris is a bit screwy with his predictions about the south going to Obama.

Does he really think that the southerners would vote for a black racist who also supports communism and partial-birth abortion?

I really hope that Morris was wrong about Florida possibly going to Obama.

I thought that the folks in Florida liked McCain more than Obama?

Yeah, I caught that interview also.

Obama is in quite a delicious trap.

He cannot pick Hillary because of Bill's enormous interference in all of the decision-making, but he cannot boot Hillary away because he will lose her whole fan base.

I just hope that McCain starts treating Conservatives with respect, and that he picks a Conservative VP.

Otherwise, McCain will alienate the Conservatives that he needs to win.

He is a sure loser without us.

His huge lack of cashola is evidence of my point.

And PRAY McCain doesn't heed Dick's advice on choosing Lieberman as VP. I didn't hear that bit about Florida...I think McCain can count on the Sunshine State. Especially with Governor Suntan's support. The Panel also concluded that Barry was in quite a pickle...if he takes her on, it shows he is a wimp (which we know already). He can't pick her tomorrow if he has a selection committee at work. He can't tell her to hang in there and hope for the best, or she'll punch him in nose. And then if he tells her, thanks, but I'll pass—forget it! I really hope someday they recreate this in a nice made-for-TV mini-series. ;)

You are right on about Lieberman.

I like his support for our troops on the battlefield, but I don't like the fact that he is consuming large amounts of the global warming kool-aid.

Lieberman would probably never carry Conservatives, and they would probably lose the General as a result.

What's wrong with picking Governor Michael Steele or Governor Sarah Palin for VP?

I like Governor Jindal, but he needs to stay in Louisiana and take out the trash for several years before he has the experience needed to run the Republic.

Lieberman would make me cry...no matter how much he supports the WOT. He can campaign in Connecticut, thank you very much. My choice is Mitt. ;)

Perhaps we can do a "Best Of" or "Greatest Hits" thread in their honor. ;)

She’s torturing them until they give her whaterver it is that she wants (short of the nomination).

She diminished Obama’s victory by being a bad sport.

Any other liberal Democrat would have done the same. They are as petulant children.

She infuriated Obama and top Dems with last night's speech. It was all about her, not Dems or victory or Obama.

Looks like the Democrat establishment is no longer enamored with Grifter #1 and Grifter #2. They finally understand how we have felt for all these years -- like wanting to paw a hole in the dirt and bury them like two lumps of cat sh*t.

She didn't say she was dropping out...only that she was suspending her campaign.

When was the last time Hillary took NO for an answer? If ever.

Dennis Miller says that Barry cannot pick Mrs. Clinton because nobody would vote for him because they’d think he was clinically insane.

MIller's great.
