Clinton's Vice Presidential Campaign
The Washington Post ^ | 6/4/08 | Dan Balz

Posted on 06/04/2008 1:23:31 PM PDT by Dawnsblood

Hillary Clinton is "absolutely ready" to discuss the vice presidency with Barack Obama and has authorized supporters to encourage Obama to pick her if he feels that will help unify the party and help Democrats win the White House, according to Robert Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television and a prominent Clinton supporter.

Johnson said he began discussing the vice presidency with Clinton last month and that they talked about it at a dinner in Puerto Rico last Saturday and again by phone and e-mail on Tuesday. "Let me be clear," Johnson said in a telephone interview Wednesday morning. "She said if asked to do this, she must accept because she believes that it is in the best interest of the party that the party come together and win in November."

Johnson launched an effort to create an Obama-Clinton ticket Wednesday morning with a letter to Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who endorsed Obama on Tuesday morning. In the letter, Johnson said the best way to unify the party is with an Obama-Clinton ticket. "I believe that the most important step that you can take now is to encourage the Congressional Black Caucus to urge Senator Obama to select Senator Hillary Clinton as his Vice Presidential running mate," he wrote.

Johnson said he talked specifically with Clinton on Tuesday about his intentions. "She said, 'Go ahead,'" he recalled, although she asked that he wait until Wednesday to do so.

Johnson said he believes Clinton understands that is it important now for her to recognize Obama as the presumptive Democratic nominee. "I think she recognizes that people want a definitive statement from her hailing Obama as the nominee and announcing that she is no longer in campaign mode," Johnson said.

It’s not fair! She should be holding the most advanced mop in Levenworth, for a long time.

I think that O’Bambino by selecting Sweet Caroline to his vetting committee kinda nixed that idea, no? Neil Diamond will sooner get the spot! (Hey, the first Jewish Vice-President who has recorded a Christian Christmas album!)

Yikes! It just occured to me that if Barry beats McQueeg, we’d have a president being led around by the nose by the CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS!! Oh, brother!

Is that worse than being led around by the nose by the HISPANIC CAUCUS, or even the Mexican government?

She’s not going to give Obama her VP nod.

Surely, Obama is not dumb enough to put Hillary one heartbeat away from the presidency. Her dream and perceived destiny is to be president and she would do anything to get there... including sabotaging his presidency if he were somehow elected.

Obama just put some Kennedy girl in charge of his VP search committee.

Therefore, the Clintons are going to be left out in the cold.

Once the dance number has been decided upon, all that remains is choreography.

Personally, I think she wants a seat on the SCOTUS instead.

Has there ever been a member of SCOTUS that has been impeached, recalled or whatever they do to criminal, grasping, sociopaths in their midst?

Chrissy reported tonight that James Clyburn had a verrryyy nasty exchange with Bubba. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be an enthusiastic supporter of “Her Heinous”as VP. Clyburn said he will probably write about his verbal attack from Bill. I guess it was pretty nasty.

Just how does one choreograph a St. Vitus Dance on such a large scale? ;)

Jumping onto a sinking ship? No more Senate seat?
If O/C get elected, will 2010 be just like just like 1994?
Will there be anyone in the house to write a new contract?

Great. A Obama/Hillary ticket vs. McCain/Lieberman. we might as well shut the lights and close the country.

Fat chance. If Hillary gets the VP nod, she’ll knock Obama out of the race before November.

In all seriousness, I'm really not clear on your point. I know a lot of Freepers like to talk about Arkancide, but I think we all know that Hillary is not really going to have Obama whacked. Even if she had the means and opportunity (she obviously has the motive) to do so, I don't think that anyone whose opinion I would respect seriously thinks that could or would happen.

So what do you mean that if she were the VP candidate, she would knock him out of the race before November? You think she has some kind of bombshell disclosure about him that she wouldn't have used already? I don't.

Trust me. Something will come up and he’ll have to resign. If Hillary sees him in trouble, she’ll pitch him under the bus.

You mentioned Arkancide, not me.
