Barack Obama yesterday launched his search for a running mate - as Democratic calls for a "marriage" to rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton reached new heights.
With the party sharply divided after a bruising primary season - and with Clinton having won many key states - a growing number of Democratic officials are now openly talking about an Obama-Clinton ticket that could unite the factions and take back the White House in November.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), a Clinton booster, told The Post, "I am one that believes that if it works out that Senator Obama is the nominee, the strongest ticket would be Senator Clinton as vice president. No question in my mind...The weight of the states he carried versus the states she carried. It's different. And, therefore, if you combine them both, you've got the best electoral path."

OMG...you really don't get it...do you? Pretty clear to the rest of us what the objective is...and it is the same in any war. Get the enemy fighting someone else. If they have a two-fronted war...they can't do as much damage to you. Do you have any clue as to the 10's of millions of dollars, if not hundreds, of DNC money that has been spent because these two have had to battle it out because of the extended DNC primary? Every dollar a rat gives to be spent on the primary is one less they have to give to be spent during the general....and this year we need all the help we can get in that area.
Do you understand all the bitterness...(most of which will subside but even if 5% remains that might be enough to swing a key state)? The dirty laundry aired? Its huge. If I could keep them slugging it out until the convention I would. It would wreck the party...especially if Hill was able to get the nodd.
THINK!!!!
Shades of Kennedy and Johnson! I would guess if Hillary is V-P and BO Prez, BO will be lucky to live out his first year in office. Arkancide...it’s just not for mid level managers anymore
Hillary currently has the popular vote lead but that includes the disputed Michigan vote.
If Hillary does well in Puerto Rico, the danger is that she will have the undisputed lead in the popular vote. At that point, if the Super Delegates agree, Hillary would get the nomination without having to "steal" it.
Hillary I believe would be a far tougher candidate to beat in November than a weakened Obama heading the ticket.
Anybody who supports at this point a time a vote for Hillary in the remaining three primaries is risking the above scenario.
It won't happen. She knows it...he knows it...we all know it (well...most of us). The super delagates know the disaster that waits if they side with the beast and overthrow the delegates. Don't get me wrong...I hope it happens because the convention will be a disaster and the black vote will split by and large...which will swing some key states that we are in danger of losing...like Ohio. The moonbat side of the party will bolt to the greens. It would be wonderful....but it won't happen. The SD's won't do it and everyone knows it except the hand-wringers in the GOP.
Hillary and Obama hate each other, Michelle hates her even more. I heard it’s the same between their respective staffs, that there is no possible way either side trusts or will ever trust the other. I’m not going to say no way, but I just don’t see it, much the same as when Reagan was supposedly courting Ford in 1980 to be his running mate. They talked and exchanged ideas and thoughts, but the intense dislike between them coupled with Reagan wanting to carve out his own path ended all talks. Lastly, if you go to DU you’ll read many of their members state clearly that if Obama names her as his running mate that they will not vote for him. They question how Obama can preach change throughout the primaries, and pointedly label the Clinton’s as “the old way of doing things,” then turn around and ask her to be his running mate. Lastly, the Clinton’s are personna non gtata in the Black community, I don’t think they’d be pleased at all with Obama if he asked her to run with him.
Yes. Particularly given that you were wrong in your original view that Limbaugh was handing Hillary the nomination. You seem to have invested so heavily in the notion that Operation Chaos was bad that you can't let it go - even after your original prediction failed to actualize. When Hillary doesn't get the VP spot on the ticket, I am sure you will find another reason to standby your view that Operation Chaos will lead us to doom.
Now I sense that Boybama will be less daring in a similar vein as Deval Patrick who is a doctrinaire liberal and a bad administrator as well. Just my two cents.
And thanks for the discourse, I think that the best insights come from FR.
Not an unlikely scenario, but it would probably occur on Inauguration Day with Obama slipping down the steps and breaking his neck or something. Gotta make it an "accident". CSI guy to FBI agent, "you know that wound looks about the same size as one of those White House ashtrays."
The super delagates know the disaster that waits if they side with the beast and overthrow the delegates.
If Hillary has the popular vote (not counting Michigan), then the super delegates would be "overthrowing" the will of the Democrat people and popular vote, if they were to still side with Obama. The Clintons could easily make that argument with both their silverware stealing hands tied behind their back.
The moonbat side of the party will bolt to the greens. It would be wonderful....but it won't happen. The SD's won't do it and everyone knows it except the hand-wringers in the GOP.
The blacks and the college kids most likely wouldn't bolt the party. Even Rush knows that. Shall I show you his quoted statements?
As I said, anybody who supports at this point a time a vote for Hillary in the remaining three primaries is risking the above scenario. The clasping and squeezing of hands in distress are yours, trying to defend the above risky scenario.
May I suggest that you, and the rest of the nervous ninnies spend your time in bed with the covers over your heads between now and November, as you seem to be succumbing to the vapors.
FReepers have been talking about the foolish of Operation Chaos for months. When your opponent is trying to hang themselves, never wrestle them for the rope!
Our only hope is that the two of them (Obama and Hillary) realize what a personal post-election disaster it would be for them, particularly for her.
For the DNC, it would be a dream ticket.
We can only hope that Obama doesn't realize this is what he needs to get elected.
Rush: “Never believe your own PR”
Rush hopes she whacks him out and gets caught or Michelle Obama gets to her first.
Because it creates chaos and conflict within the Democrat Party which does not have a big tent.
The party’s radical hard-core are fervent socialists but they can’t get a dog elected without the Reagan Democrats, those conservative, bible-believing, gun-toting, middle-class hard working group (not solely white) who have values that include national defense, love of country, and love for God.
Neither Hillary nor Obama, both far-far-left wing Dems, can bring those conservative Democrats to the polls. And Rush Limbaugh knows that and now you know too.
Why NOT? Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, Savage, and many others haven’t touched her for MONTHS. Ingraham even calls her “Mrs. Clinton” now, not Hillary, and says she admires her. Said it on Fox the other night.
I will believe The Clintons are not the co-nominees when I hear her cry during her concession speech and not one SECOND before.
Hillary, with the help of the MSM and (sadly) Rush, has positioned herself as the candidte for the “Reagan Democrats.”
Keep your eye on the ball - Obama and Hillary.
It is amusing how the Ditto lemmings have convinced themselves that the rest of us who criticize this so-called Operation Chaos just don’t get the rocket science strategy behind it, and they keep explaining and keep explaining this silly kindergarten plot to us. This appears to be a syndrome here lately, call it the Joe Palooka Syndrome.
