Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.

Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

They routinely throw the anti-Mormon card at us without any evidence. I don’t give a damn what sect he is, I call the *omneybots cultists not because they may or may not be Mormon, but because of their disturbingly mentally deranged Christlike idol worship of the man. Precious Willard is his OWN religion, much like Bubba and Obama and their unhinged sycophants. They would as soon behead us like the Mohammadan adherents because we dared question the divinity of Mitt.

>> And the best part... Nowhere in this article does the name HUCKABEE appear. <<

You will also note that nowhere in this article does the name JOE LIEBERMAN, yet freepers have been yapping for monthes that they're absolutely 100% certain that it would be Lieberman or "socialist" Huckabee on the ticket with McCain.

Of course these same freepers adamently insisted a few monthes ago that McCain had no shot at winning the GOP nomination and the only "real" candidates in the race that would win primaries were "Rudy, Mitt, and Fred"

Go figure. Well I guess they got one right out of three.

“who can’t achieve anything meaningfully conservative.”

Well, he DID make his reputation as “Chain Gang Charlie”, so he WAS tough on crime!;)

>> I would be willing to bet that he picks Joe Liebermann. Libermann has been following McAmnesty at every event. McAmnesty has already given us the middle finger on immigration and went pandering to La Raza last week. I wouldn't doubt he'd pick Liebermann as VP candidate. <<

I wonder what happened to all the freepers who gloated that they sent ol' Joe money in the last election, volunteered their time to campaign for him, and pulled the lever for "let every vote count except overseas millitary ballots" Joe, simply because he "supports the war" and "we cannot let Ned Lamont win" (although they were fine with not lifting a finger while Jim Talent, Conrad Burns, and George Allen lost)

Since they were so "pleased" that LIEberman's left-wing butt was re-elected, I'm sure they'd just love having our "patriotic ally" Joe Lieberman a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Biggest problem with Gov Sanford being his running mate would be that if elected S.C. new Governor would be Andre Bauer who is not liked by many conservatives in S.C. though is he still a Republican. That also may take Gov Jindal out because then the Governor would be Democrat Mitch Landrieu, both states elect LT Gov,s separate from the Governor’s and neither Gov’s would have piked them as the LT Gov’s but that is who the have.

>> How about Thune from SD? He beat Tom Daschle. <<

How about no?

Thune campaigned on "ending obstructionism", then the hypocrite turned around and used John Bolton as a human shield until Bush gave him pork for South Dakota.

I am simply amazed that freepers continue to cry about the Gang of 14 thing when the results turned out to be not that bad, but give Thune a free pass after he helped derail Bolton's career.

I will give Thune the same level of "support" he showed for Bolton.

South Dakota and it's three safely Republican electoral votes can do without that backstabber on the ticket.

I agree, but the Romney camp will tell ya he had to do this because he was gov over a liberal state. I say he will also bow to a liberal congress and senate.

You got that right.

The latest "talking point" on FR is that supposedly "only the Huckabee supporters" oppose Romney for V.P. I see you have been trying in vain to show the pro-Romney freepers otherwise.

I have to admit, you warned me a while back that conservatives would be duped by Romney and I didn't realize it until Fred dropped out and the FR poll showed a ton of freepers blindly got on the Mitt bandwagon and bought the "only Mitt can win" kool-aid. It took me by complete suprise. You were right on that one, forunately after Super Tuesday his "momentum" was stopped.

I don't see what the heck he'd bring to the ticket that makes him a candidate for veep either. Maybe putting Michigan in play, that's about it.

Thanks for the ping Field.

I wonder the Mittens would beat the Obamamites in a gullible contest.

There was a reason the Founders didn't give the vote to women, the landless and those under 18.

This is it.

I have a bad feeling that it is going the be Cristopolous. I think the “Gay Mafia” has McCain in their pocket.

I'm afraid your right. McCain seems like the sort who would do this for no other reason than to tick off conservatives and prove he can work on "both sides of the aisle"...(yuck!)

I was not serious about Santorum. He and McCain hate each other.

Not surprising, Santorum is a conservative after all.

I personally found it hillarious back in January each camp accusing me of being a paid shill for the other candidates (despite the fact I made it absolutely plain I was 100% behind Fred, although also had intellectual respect for Duncan Hunter who could claim the Conservative mantle with a straight face). The Hucksterites (briefly) liked me for helping take out Willard, and the Mittbotts were more than happy to “use” me to take out Huckster. I was also accused of being a McCain shill because I didn’t equally attack him with the ferocity I showed towards the other two.

Basically, I was sickened at ALL of them, if I was lightest on my harsh criticism of McCain, it was only because I viewed him as 90% awful vs. Huckster being 95% awful and *omney being 110% awful. It’s been a nightmare with the worst imaginable candidates running for the highest office in the land, and instead of them just being Democrats, they were “Republicans”, too. :-\

Too bad we can’t lock them all in a big room and let them eat each other... I got that idea when I saw the ACT-UP gay militants facing off with Rev. Phelps’ creepshow. We’d all be better off if they eliminated themselves for the good of humanity.

McCain invited three possibles AND their spouses or trophy dates. There’s some dinner out there in AZ. www.sptimes.com (for today’s story about why else they’re out there w/Juan.) search: McCain after you get to St. Petersburg Times if you decide to find out what they were out there for. I’m a big no on Crist. Besides being a tree hugger, his campaign donors are not always Americans. Some of the foreigners who bankroll Crist are legit people but some are questionable. If McCain wants access to Charlie’s foreign donors, he’ll pick Charlie and they’ll lose for sure.

Charlie Crist’s dream is an army of 500,000 boy scouts who report litterbugs, pollution and other violations to the authorities. He didn’t mention the girl scouts... This was in the local paper. It sounds like Germany all over again.

Only chance of a non-liberal resurgence is a declared lefty. The stealth liberal McCain will finish any chance of returning to a Traditionalist America.

Romney is the excellent choice out of those three, for sure.

I disagree. Bobby Jindal is one of the most remarkable men we have in the party. If we are picking a VP who would make the best President, there is NO better pick than Jindal.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Rumor on the Hill is that this was the gathering for those he chose NOT to pick. The "thanks but no thanks" crew that he wanted to give a tip of the hat too before making his choice.

Of course, that also presumes the GOP will suddenly rediscover Conservatism and their cojones. After the fiasco of 2006, they’re still wandering in the wilderness of ignorance and cowardice.
