I can only hope that the best outcome possible was achieved during the recent surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery and return to the corner of Blackstone and Shaw.
I can't know your circumstances but from my experience getting old is not that much fun. I can still hit a silver dollar at 25 yards with a 1911 A-1, but not very often. I find myself hanging onto the door frame longer than I should when exiting a vehicle and my fanny has disappeared from side view in a mirror. Sleep comes in 3 hours spurts between restroom visits and shaving would be suicidal without bifocals.
Past age 50, life is what you make of it with the cards you are dealt. Keep your chin up and your powder dry.
