What makes you think they can not access internet sites about Tibet? That has got to be the most uninformed post I have ever seen on here. The high standard of information this website has been known for is definately dropping.

CNN World : Tibet : Chinas media blackout

Chinese FReeper says Dasrafael... "though the GFW really cause some troubles when we visit a foreign website(For example we cannot visit Wiki)."

Another Chinese FReeper, on this thread that we are on, says he cannot open a website about Tibet. (zhanli)

Empirical Analysis of Internet Filtering in China

Berkman Center for Internet & Society Harvard Law School

Our main testing examined 203,217 web sites drawn from categories other than sexually explicit content. We seeded this list of sites from multiple sources.

(snip)

Using the definition of "blocked" specified above, we found that a total of 18,931 of these sites (9.3%) were blocked in China. Given the large number of sites blocked, we have organized our listing of specific blocked pages into highlights -- some blocked pages that are well known or otherwise of possible interest -- followed by the full list. Where available, each page's listing includes its HTML title, its META keywords and description, and its Yahoo Directory and Google Directory classifications. These details are as retrieved in November 2002.

Blocked websites that begin with the letter 'T' Scroll down and see the long list of websites that begin with the word "tibet" then consider how many websites are about Tibet but begin with a different letter.

Now who looks uninformed? The real question is are you the biggest fool to ever post to me or are you a ChiCom troll?

Google 'china internet blocked'

The ChiCom/Chinese nationalist point of view is the novelty "in" thing for some on FR. Let's see if this sentiment lasts after the 2008 Olympics - after which the ChiComs won't be really interested in showing their best faces to the world.

On the subject of "unrestricted" Net access, see this story and this one.

Both reports were filed in 2007.
