CANON CITY, Colo. -- A Kent man who is an associate professor at Seattle University was arrested in connection with a variety of child sex crimes on Monday in Colorado, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
Police said the arrest of Major Andrew Douglas Franz, 41, stemmed from an undercover Internet investigation by the Fremont County Combined Investigative Response Team.
Police said Franz traveled from Washington to Fremont County in Colorado for the purpose of having sex with an underage girl.

I don't get it. It's apparently common for these creeps to go to extraordinary lengths for the possibility of sex with a child. First, haven't they figured out that most of these things are police stings. Second, the thought of sex with a child is kind of revolting. Are these guys wired so wrong that their values are totally inverted? I can understand a 17 yo getting it on with a 15 yo, but some guy in his 40's? How creepy. How Hollywood (I believe it was Douglas Fairbanks Jr who when spotted by reporters getting off a plane with an apparently underage lady said, "I may be too old for her, but I assure you sport, she's not too young for me."
I imagine this guy just moved up to the short list for University president consideration.......
One would hope so. There are IMHO dangerous proposals by politicians to try to make us think we're safer by registering sex offender e-mail addresses and online IDs. Even a dumb sex offender could figure out how to circumvent that in seconds. But no doubt some people will buy into that complete waste of time and money.
I think the stings are a far better idea. They catch folks like this guy, who apparently was not registered.

Wow have things changed... Child predator teaching military science at a Jesuit university. That’s gotta be a trifecta of something!
There’s a federal max security prison right in Fremont County at Florence. Also the state prison in Canon City proper. (Hard to put “proper” and “Canon City” in the same sentence.) Also a bridge over the Royal Gorge. Long drop.
Very few in their right minds want to visit Fremont County. Pass through on their way to Alamosa, sure.
