Ron Paul Hopes to Crash McCain's Party
ABC News ^ | 5/13/08 | Marcus Barum

Sen. John McCain, taking a victory lap as the presumptive Republican nominee, happily poked fun at his only remaining opponent.

Asked during an appearance on "The Daily Show" last week which of the two Democratic nominees he preferred to run against in the general election, McCain quipped, "Ron Paul."

But Paul might get the last laugh during McCain's coronation at the party's convention in early September.

McCain's nomination may be certain, but he finds himself pressured by different wings of the conservative movement -- from the libertarians and the anti-war activists, to social conservatives and evangelical voters.

"He voted not against the cuts themselves, but he voted against the bill because there were no provisions for cutting spending."

So, there will be no tax cuts until Congress votes for spending cuts? Then, there will never be tax cuts and that makes McCain (as the Marxists would say) objectively opposed to tax cuts. Whatever cr*p McCain says for voting against those specific tax cuts is irrelevant. Oh, don't forget McCain's class war rhetoric in opposing the tax cuts. Oh, and finally, McCain has been in the Senate how long and what tax cuts has he actually proposed?

McCain is a sack of .... (fill in the blank)>

McCain hates us Conservatives and thinks he can win by appealling to the libs who are mad at either Obama or Hillary. he can go suck wind. I’ll vote for Ron Paul before I ever vote for McCain.

Who would Reagan vote for?

Reagan would stay home.

First, I didn't write that. Second, you have two choices: McCain or Obama. Third, I am not settling for anything as this is the system the Founding Fathers put in place that has us with these two choices.

I have very conservative representation from Texas in Washington of whom I will press hard for the next 4 years to keep McCain's feet to the fire. That's the system the Founding Fathers gave me to work with as I so choose.

Your plan is what? Allow Obama into the Whitehouse?

Obama will get into the White House if McCain is the nominee. I am sick that we have no choice. I cannot make myself vote for Obama or McCain. Nor for Hillary but she is out unless she runs for third party or as McCain's VP, which is unlikely. McCain and Obama need somebody with experience that Hillary

I don't see that at all.

I want to hear McCain’s standards of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan. I do not want my kids to grow up forced to be global police in perpetual wars that do not protect the American way of life. We can’t keep fighting half wars/half supported ad infinitum.

I do not trust McCain domestically, or believe his promise to appoint conservative judges.

He is the hood ornament, representative of the Republican Party as it ignores the “bridge out” warnings, abandons conseratism, and careens over the cliff.

Make no mistake: when the Republicans try to blame conservatives for losing yet another election cycle for them, it will only reinforce their lack of commitment to conservative ideals and limited conservative government.

If the Dems EVER supported the pro-life plank, or even choice on it, the Pubbie party would cease to exist.

#3 is really the only one I have any confidence in him supporting. I don’t trust him on anything else. I will work to get CONSERVATIVES elected down ballot.

Even on this board, the W haters don’t want the truth pointed out to them. Once he supported amnesty, and did not close the borders like they wanted - with a fence - nothing he did was worthwhile.

I disgree with you on #1. McCain’s choices will be hit or miss, but Obama will nominate modern day Roland Frieselers.

No I should not. I will vote for McCain who will continue the WOT with honor and who will reduce income taxes and spending.

What party has Keyes as its Presidential nominee? He did not receive the nomination of the Constitution Party, primarily because of his support of continued military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan.
