Ron Paul Hopes to Crash McCain's Party
ABC News ^ | 5/13/08 | Marcus Barum

Sen. John McCain, taking a victory lap as the presumptive Republican nominee, happily poked fun at his only remaining opponent.

Asked during an appearance on "The Daily Show" last week which of the two Democratic nominees he preferred to run against in the general election, McCain quipped, "Ron Paul."

But Paul might get the last laugh during McCain's coronation at the party's convention in early September.

McCain's nomination may be certain, but he finds himself pressured by different wings of the conservative movement -- from the libertarians and the anti-war activists, to social conservatives and evangelical voters.

You’re welcome...:)

I am not a fan of McCain, but I am willing to look critically and rationally at the man’s history, his record, and his positions and I find that I agree with him a LOT more than I disagree. And INFINITELY more than I agree with Obama.

Is he the ideal “Conservative” candidate? No, but I don’t think that person exists at all. But he’s pretty good on many things, and very good on the most important.

Even his recent ramblings about global warming - which I do not believe is caused by man - were properly tempered in that he called for free market solutions to address pollution. Even when he gets a position “wrong”, he at least gets the solution approach right!

I am around 8 blocks from the San Diego Naval Hospital and Medical Center, largest in the U.S.
It has many Marines with their Legs and or arms blown off.
Many are fighting to get back to Iraq.

The folks who want Obama on this thead should tell
these Marines Obama will be their new commander in chief
to pull the troops out and have them watch while the
IslamOfascists take over the rest of the Middle East
while more 9/11s occure in the U.S.

I am also around 3 miles for the Marine Corp Recruit Depot. Some of the blowhards on this thread wouldn’t
last 2 mins. there.

Paulian - should have known... Paul lost. Get over it. Paul’s staying a Republican, and supporting the Republican party. He’s not running for President. So your recommendation is out.

An anti-American international Socialist will be President anyway.

I mean they’re both (Obama/McCain) believers in a managed/controlled society/economy - rather than believers in the free market concept (which was the original idea of the United Sates). It’s a pretty fundamental difference

BS. Reagan would never have supported a protectionist and anti-immigrant extremist like hunter or keyes.

If those aren't two HUGE differences

Differences without a consequence. Judges are a done deal. Even if McCain were to nominate strict constructionist judges, there is no way they would pass the Senate.

Yes, and a proud Paulian if you wish to quote me.

Paulian - should have known... Paul lost. Get over it. Paul’s staying a Republican, and supporting the Republican party. He’s not running for President. So your recommendation is out.

First of all, it's not over. Secondly, Paul is way more "conservative" than McCain.

Is that supposed to be some kind of an insult?

1. His appointments to the courts will be better than Obama’s

With the dems in control of congress, no they won’t be and you very well know it.

2. He will not raise taxes as Obama will do.

Ever hear of carbon cap and trade?

3. He will not abandon the mission in our war against terrorists

It is absolutely ludicrous to say we are fighting a war on terror half way around the world when we refuse to secure our borders and ports.

4. He is committed to reducing spending and eliminating earmarks

Well one out of four ain’t bad. Of course if you actually READ his plan for bailing out the idiots that took out loans they knew they could not pay back....strike four.

When you turn over the ball after a punt, you send your defense out. You don’t just walk off, let the other team score, then send your offense out again!

This is not DEFENSE. This is our quarterback scoring points for the other team. And yo are asking us to help him?

Really? He has the same ACU lifetime rating as McCain and his weight at OnTheIssues actually is to the left of McCain.. All the candidates stink, that’s life. They are politicians. Honorable people generally don’t go into politics, people with interests do.

Who would Reagan vote for?

He'd probably spit at the question.

Maybe ya ought to offer coupons or voter discounts or silverware for McCain votes? Or try begging harder.
