Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008
Posted on 05/14/2008 5:16:40 PM PDT by trussell
Prayer Request Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th See the posts below for information about this procedure. Jim Update:
It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.
I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.
Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.
He sounded better than he has for the past few months. He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.
They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.
Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.
I hope this makes sense.
When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.
Father, hear our prayers. 930 posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 8:55:24 PM by JustAmy*********************************
Thanks for all the updates, Amy I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time. He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading. So I imagine that is the decision he will make. Don't worry about him getting online, he has an air card so he can get online anywhere. He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby. Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual. Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon. Good advice you gave Jim, Amy. Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks And the legion here that are pulling for him.

**************************************** Today's short update:
I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.
I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.
He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.
His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.
Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

Jim, the Lord loves you and so do we. He will take care of you. He knows every detail of your physical trials. May You dwell in the shadow of His mighty wings, for He will never leave nor forsake you. I will be praying.

Jim, I offer some serious prayers for you and yours. I pray that the Lord provides whatever is necessary to protect you, to heal you and to return you to your place as the primary defender of the American way. Whatever happens may the Lord give you strength and peace of mind to battle your way back. Don't ever quit, you can't quit. The Lord needs you, your country needs you and Free Republic needs you. You have shown your light brightly as a marker for those of us lost in a Hell storm of political change. Anger, frustration and confusion may knock us off course, but the miracle of the Free Republic provides the light to guide us and to bring us back to the principles that made America great. May God bless you Jim.

Now, this may seem ridiculous, but could someone please pass this along to the family tonight? Tonight, or sometime BEFORE they take Jim in the morning to put him under for the surgery, take a sharpie and write a big note on his GOOD leg, something like STOP! Not this leg! Some hospitals may even do this routinely these days, but it seems like cheap insurance to take care of it yourself. FOTFLOL This message was just passed on to the Robinson family. It gave them a good laugh. I am willing to bet that Chris or John will write that note.
To: Jim Robinson
My dearest beloved of 42 years is struggling with advanced Parkinson's (rigid type), and just broke his hip, from a “freezing” episode and consequent fall.
As I am praying for my husband, I am also praying for you.
We get these trials in life for some reason, most of the time it is beyond our understanding until we look back on them with the wisdom of a few years.
Be brave, dear Jim. Focus on the good you have done in bringing FR to life. Concentrate on just the next day's challenge. Do not dwell on all the “what-ifs”. Just deal with the next bump in the road.
Tony and I are so grateful to you for bringing the conservative folks together. You started before the MSM even knew we all existed. And, as my beloved husband is just now understanding, it isn't the nonfunctional body parts that matter, but it is the mind and the brain.
You obviously have a good setup in that regard, Jim. Just let the docs and the physical and occupational therapists do their best with the rest...
Our love to you, and fight that depression with a vengeance. My beloved is struggling with it right now. I have faith that he will figure out how to tame the “black dog”, and I have faith that you will be able to do so as well.
Just think of this an having to eat an elephant. You can only do it one bite at a time. Start with just the first bite. Have faith in your life, and just keep taking each day's challenges as your own personal calling.
You never know who else out here in cyberspace you might be helping!
Love to you and yours, from a faithful long time friend....
Jackie Joy.

Jim,
From our motley crew here in that tiny State that inevitably evokes the question ‘Where is Delaware?’
From Me with Chronic Pullmonary Disorder, Peripheral Artery Disease and 40 pounds overweight,
From My Wife, a 20 year breast cancer survivor and severe fibro myalgia,
From our newest addition an 11 year old daughter who we adopted last November after she had been bounced through 25 Foster Care homes in two years,
From Lucky Dog who showed up on our back porch in a snowstorm, starving and practically frozen (so ugly he is almost cute),
From Jake our Rat Terrier who echoes his self taught words - While we were away a week to finalize the adoption, we placed him in a kennel since last time we left him at home with all the food and water he could possibly consume and he just pined away the whole time. At the kennel he just sat without eating in the middle of his trampoline bed and waited our return - then as soon as he got into the car he told us with his new self-taught words - ‘Home - Home - Home’ delivered as a pleading howl.
From Smokey our cat who had been thrown out with along our road with a mangled rear leg that had to be amputated,
We all gathered around the computer and as we prayed for you Jim, Jake expressed his sentiments and a plea for you to receive what was meaningful to him - as I am sure it is for you too - a prayer that you come ‘Home - Home - Home’.
Our prayer is for your healing, for the wisdom of your Doctors, the help of the skilled Nurses, and the continued support of your whole family as God alone can move to have happen. May this prayer be answered for you as so many have been for us!
We Love You Jim, Get Well Soon!

Short Update ........
When I got to the hospital to see Jim today, John Robinson and notpoliticallycorewrecked were there. As I was leaving, Jim’s brother came by.
Sheila and Chris are there now.
I let Jim know that he has all FReepers praying hard for him. I also let him know that I had been called to another website and found a Jim Robinson thread where many Former FReepers are in prayer for Jim’s recovery. That made him feel very good.
All anyone knows is the surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning but neither Jim or Sheila know what time.
Jim said he was feeling fine, but he was kinda restless and needed to be moved often. The swelling in his left leg has gone down alot since they put him in a bed. They have him on Morphine (according to Sheila) to control the pain.
I join all of you in prayers for my long-time FRiend.
Thank you.
Amy
