HOUSE GOPERS STOMPING MAD OVER PROSPECTS (GOP in self-destruct mode)
MSNBC ^ | 5/14/2008 | Mike Viqueira

Posted on 05/14/2008 10:08:52 AM PDT by tobyhill

Lot's of very glum faces among House GOP members this morning as they emerged from their weekly closed-door session. The political situation is not good, and they aren't even trying to deny it.

Rep. Tom Davis stomped on the concrete floor of the Capitol basement when asked by reporters about Republican fortunes at the moment.

"This is the floor," he said, by way of explanation. "We're below the floor."

Inside the meeting, Davis had just presented his colleagues with what he said was a 20-page memo outlining his prescription for a way out of this mess. He did not offer details to the press, yet did not spare the party and the president scathing criticism in his public comments.

"The president swallows the microphone every time he opens his mouth," Davis said.

He believes Bush's staunch opposition to the Democratic housing bill and the SCHIP bill, for example, is hurting rank and file. Look at yesterday's vote on the SPRO, where Republicans defied the president in droves. Lo and behold, the White House says today that it will not veto the bill.

Today is also the day when the House takes up the farm bill, which the president has promised to veto. It’s expected that this will become the second veto of Bush's administration to be overridden -- though the farm bill has more of a parochial dynamic than the national political one.

Tom Davis couldn’t even get his wife elected to the Virginia State Senate.

Before you read this make sure your guns and sharp objects are securely stowed away and that you are not near any open windows or a busy street.
Imagine President Obama, with a veto proof majority of RATS,
a spineless Republican party, and a Supreme Court stacked with Thurgood Marshals and Ruth Buzzy Ginsbergs. Set them to work for 8 years on taxes, gun rights, education, national defense, immigration, gays, private industry, abortion, crime, and the environment. Have a nice day.

My bunker is near complete.
McLame has proved to me that no matter what he says about the types of judges he wants he would give us the opposite. Every Republican has claimed they want energy independence from foreign sources but when the vote came yesterday there was the usual RINOs voting with the Rats. McLame didn't vote but I assure you that he would have voted against expanded drilling.

You mean his NEW wife. Tom and Jeannemarie each dumped their first spouses for each other.

All the rhinoceros horn in that house nowadays, I’m surprised Jeannemarie isn’t permanently pregnant. . . .they’re both permanently RINO, at least. . .

Your falling for the Dem party lies being peddled by MS-DNC. Dont believe a word of it , that crap from the Obama network comes from Howard Dean The American spectator already has covered the real mess . The Rep congress thinks the idiots the Bush appointed as the RNC congressional media people are incompetent idiots and have tried to get rid for the last year. Plus , Congressman Cole is in over his head in running the RCC but wont step aside. My old congressman has been trying to get rid of the RNC and Cole for last two years ! The Bush WH is a mess and still mad over the illegal alien bill with certain congressman. Sadly, its Bush and his people that are basically to blame here not Rhinos .

The big business special interest groups that control the GOP would never let that happen. The GOP is a tool used by big business to further its own interests.

Right, but whenever that sentiment was brought up you'd hear cries of "class warfare!" coming from the GOP. Well, guess what, its true, you were used as a tool to further the interests of those who could give a damn about you or your values. They were only looking to grab the cash and run.

Y’know, somehow when we’re talking about the current RINO leadership, this posting seems actually quite appropriate...

A few of the possible physical manifestations observed in meetings, that could indicate demonization

Obsessive/Compulsive/Driven behavior (Luke 8:29)
Crazed or abnormal behavior (Luke 8:35; Mark 5:5)
Mocking (Luke 4:33-35; Acts 16:16-18]
Bodily contortions or convulsions (Luke 4:33-36; Mark 1:25-26); bulging eyes; contorted face; slithering like a snake; crouching like a cat; etc.
Seizure (being seized by the demon and driven to do something) (Luke 8:29; Luke 9:39-42)
Babbling (not to be mistaken for tongues; it’s when a totally infantile sound is produced.)
Barking
Birthing, when someone sits themselves down on the ground in a position like a woman does when giving birth, and then starts groaning and writhing as if giving birth. (The sign is that once made pregnant with the Gospel, something new is being born in them — something spiritual.)
Uncomfortable Tingling/Burning (a sensation in the body’s extremities, similar to that of losing circulation, only the circulation is unaffected.)

Couldn’t get her RE-elected. Her Democrat opponent ran to her right, and you can guess the outcome. Tommy boy wanted a public coronation to succeed John Warner and when he was informed he wouldn’t get it, he not only threw a tantrum and withdrew from that race, he decided he no longer wanted his House seat, either. This guy is EXACTLY what’s wrong with our leadership.

At some point Repubs wil realize that they have to EXPLAIN their positions and philosophy to the public.

This would be helped if the Republicans had a philosophy rather than a set of cynical cliches dished out every two to four years.

Yep - especially since the Dummies harped on the price of gas before the ‘06 election and said they had a plan to fix it (they sure FIXED it all right).

And run a few soundbites of Pelosi, Feinstein, et al. calling us all racists for wanting the illegals deported before they destroy our economy and murder/rob/rape any more of our citizens.

I agree, Mav. That’s what I’d do but I don’t look for the GOP to say a word about either.

The GOP and the DNC are going to see the consequences of indulging their own insanity and the ignorance of much of the electorate...

America’s “swimming pool” has become contaminated `— and needs a severe shock treatment to make it safe swimming again..

McCain believes that enough of those he has held in comtempt, betrayed or scammed will forgive him as the lesser evil..

He is wrong.... Many of us will simply stay home - or vote for the unashamed “democrat/socialist” on the DNC’s ticket...

Tht GOP tried to force the “poison pill” of McCain down our throat as a antidote to Obama...
Instead, the poison pilled killed the GOP this go around, and they heartily deserve it...

Time to cull the herd of RINOs.

"It does suck to be a Conservative right now...."

My only hope is that we can prevent the dims from doing permanent damage in the two years before the largest backlash in US history.

It's like the GOP is engaged in some bizarre ritual suicide ceremony...

They are utterly without leadership and vision...

OOPS!! Posted to wrong thread.

I thought it fit quite appropriately. The "leadership" of the GOP has clearly taken leave of their senses. Demonic posession might be a plausible explanation for their utterly baffling, self-destructive behavior! ;-)

It’s a GD disaster, like the Red Chinese earthquake. The Republican machine is broken and corrupted to the core...Even if McCain is elected, it matters not.
