Travis Childers, elected U.S. House, District 1, Mississippi. [Note: This is an AP bulletin - nothing follows]
Believe me, Papa Doc Duvalier, the last Haitian dictator could win this year running as a democrat. The people are totally fed up with worthless, inept, unprincipled republicans.
Tonight, Trent Lott’s retirement from the U.S. Senate has resulted in strengthening the U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Party majority. Governor Haley Barbour gets some credit too for picking the Representative from the MS 1st Congressional District to replace Sen. Lott. Thanks Mississippi Republicans, good job. My wife and I are glad we left that state in 2005.
The MS GOP ran ads of Rev. Wright. Didn’t do much good did it? Today on Rasmussen, Dems are trusted more than the GOP on the top ten issues from the economy to healthcare to the environment. The generic Republican is toxic. The public, apparently, wants to poke conservatives in the eyes. Perhaps that is why McCain is competitive with Obama and Hillary, while the other GOP candidates have no chance. McCain is not your typical Republican.
I agree, he is not Bush. He is infinitely worse than Bush.
I’m a Masshole... try that on for size!
Am I gonna quit? Never!
Not til the Fat Boy drowns in a ‘68 Delta!
“Juan McNuts worships Global Warming.... “
The FIRST thing a politician learns in Washington today is that it’s easier to go along, than be branded as a “CHILD KILLER!!” for standing against whatever the Socialist meme of the moment happens to be.
By coming out FOR “Globo Warmin’”, he actually takes the argument off the table for the elections, and won’t be subject to the endless demonization from the environuts he would face. otherwise.
The Party is the vehicle for conservative. Conservatism will die with the GOP because you will never again be able to unite (most) conservatives under one banner. And doing so now is the worst possible time to experiment. The Dems are flexing their claws bigtime.
On the whole Massachusetts is more right than Baltimore.
Standards are degrading, unfortunately. If someone like BO doesn't win this time, take a look at the demographics; it's just a matter of time.
But there isn't a damn thing I can do outside of calling my one representative (and my other contacts) in dc about getting good leadership and a plan there instead of a bunch of yesmen. Boehner and Blunt are better than Shadegg and Pence? I don't think so.
It wasn't until Iraq turn into a total snake pit, $4 gasoline, increased unemployment, the beginning of a recession, sub-prime mortgage-crises, out-of-control spending, Larry Craig, Dubai port deals, Harriet Miers, and a million other things did I notice that the Republican Party is in the worst shape in my lifetime.
Wrong....
It began the DAY after the election, when many Democrats refused to accept the reality that they had lost.
And it has continued since, because so may “Democrats” figured out they could make a CRAP-LOAD of money pimping it!
True. That’s what I’m counting on but it doesn’t mean it won’t wipe out GOP congressmen.
doesn't matter.
Fact is, negative politics never work, and they are just filling up the dead air of their non message with that drivel.
The problem is that Republican voters are basically fed up with the GOP at this time.
The immigration bills should have been a wake up call for the RNC, but the RNC is apparently now driven by an agenda and the actual outcome of a few elections is less than relevant to them, since the new - and clear as a bell - leftward rush of the GOP elite K street boys is not going to be harmed by the dems winning a few elections.
When an agenda is being pursued, that agenda's aims trump mere elections. - and this is why it has trumped Conservatives by nominating a McCain; a party maverick to be the new standard bearer for the GOP!
This is made apparent when you ask the question: Why aren't they understanding why they are getting far less support, votes, and money?
Because they are pursuing an agenda.
Or so they believe. - They simply do not believe that the exact same thing that happened to the Whigs may very well be happening right now as we write.
And that demise was, as all should note, over one issue.
Will they ever change? - I do not know.
Is it too late? - I do not know.
Thank you for your interesting points. - bill
Funny. You know what made me realize we were finally in the can. Dick Cheney shooting that guy. LOL, I’m not joking. It hit me then we were toast.
This is why the folks here who think McCain can win are deluding themselves. They might as well write in Don Quixote. He’s a goner.
Completely agree on Pence and Shadegg.
