WASHINGTON - A new Gallup survey found that 61% of Jewish voters prefer Obama to McCain, who got 32% of the Jewish support.

That number is far greater than the rate found for the general population, who only preferred Obama to McCain 45-43, according to the poll. Obama also still trails Clinton in Jewish support, according to the survey, with Clinton winning against Obama in the Jewish community 50%-43%.

Though the results showed Obama is favored by the Jewish community, the Republican Jewish Coalition pounced on them to attack Obama.

Yeah. Russian Jews by far and wide are voting Republican because they understand what antisemitism in contrast to American Jews who are not yet familiar with it firsthand. Lots of American Jews, unfortunately, do not realize the consequences of voting for a man who Hamas has endorsed. Just like when Hitler rose to power many Jews were ignorant and reassured themselves that “a noble and cultured people like the Germans” would never commit inhumane acts. Yeah, apparently those Jews that survived the Holocaust learned their lesson. American Jews have not. Only when do they see Obama supporting the “palestinians” will they ever realize the consequences of their ignorance. Obama has dined with Edward Said (anti-semitic, anti-western, anti-Israel “historian”) and told him to “keep up the good work”.

“(1) Most polls have built in statistical biases that tend to overpoll support for ‘Rats.

(2) The poll, if I understand correctly, was done in March, perhaps before the Rev. Wright problem was exposed and/or had time to be analyzed.”

Thanks for the clarification, great points. Point 1 - almost always the case, yes. Point 2 - that explains a lot, I didn’t know the timing, that the poll was that dated. Yes, makes sense, then - the JW situation barely known, let alone escalated as it has ever since then, also well before the terrorist Wm. Ayers surfaced, and, maybe most importantly, well before the ringing endorsements of Hamas, Ahmedinejad and other infamous muslim terrorists. (Louis Farrakhan’s was 2/25).

So.....why not a poll NOW of where Jewish voters stand on BHO??

" I too am Jewish and none of my family have ever been Dem's" Although I am a first generation American and my family was from Eastern Europe, they proud and blessed to have been able to come to America in the early part of the 1900's. My father served for 25 years in the U.S Military and I grew up on Army Bases all over the place. We were a loving and close family all my folk's sisters and brothers were also close. I had a wonderful childhood and was taught that you did all you could for your country, your family and others less fortunate than yourself. WE took the Torah seriously.

I had the most heartfelt experience to be able to go to Israel and work in a Kibbutzim Hotel as a Chef (my profession), then for six more years for 4 weeks every year, I worked with a Messianic Music group as a singer (my other profession).. I feel blessed to have had those wonderful experiences in Israel.. The wonderful, warm and considerate people that I met and worked with there made me wonder when did our people in America (American Jews) get so side tracked? I guess it was during the Roosevelt time, when they thought of him as their friend. Since then they cannot break the silly loop they seem to be caught up in.

Shalom Israel

“The poll, if I understand correctly, was done in March”

me, again :-) I should read these articles more closely before I post, I guess. Since the original post calls this a “recent Gallup poll”, how did you ascertain that it was done a couple of months ago? I probably missed something here.

I can't think of any better explanation for why Jews will vote against their own interests like they do. It's simply bizarre.

I don't understand it either.

One would expect Jews to side with conservatives, Christians, and Evangelicals, who share many of the same interests, but instead they (Jews) generally side with liberals, atheists and America-haters. Completely baffles me too.

“He said that the simple reason why Jews vote for democrats is so they can tell their friends at the museum that they are cultured and progressive because they vote for democrats.”

How very disturbing. Adolph Hitler was “cultured” (he loved fine art, architecture, Wagner, the best wines), and “progressive”......VERY progressive..........

As a previous poster said, this is an American Jewish phenom, apparently. Our Jewish friends around the world, and certainly in Israel, have not forgotten, and know danger when they see it.

“...that they are cultured and progressive because they vote for democrats.”

And also, how sad that they evidently judge republicans as rude, crude residents of Jurassic Park. Actually, it’s gauling.

So does your rabbi friend, as a learned and (hopefully) respected man, keep trying and with any success at all, to educate them?

“if McCain can pounce on Obama harder and harder on the issue of Israel and Obama’s Anti-Israeli picks whom he had to fire to still keep the Jewish votes, it might go up.”

Probably NOT, none of the other red flags have mattered thus far. BHO just gives more lip service to Israel, and regarding those anti-semitic picks he fired, he would only point to that as further evidence of just how pro-Israel he is, after all. Because, of course, “he had NO idea of their intolerable views when they were hired”. I’m tellin’ ya, he’s the ultimate spinmeister on absolutely everything thrown at him (putting Slick Willie to shame). Almost seems as if he’s made a deal with the devil.........

“they are mostly Liberal religiously, think that the Democrats are the Party of FDR and Truman on foreign policy, and were victims(like many groups were) all the way back then. I am Jewish but I am not a Democrat.”

Merta - first of all, bless you for your wisdom, and courage to speak out against such an apparent tide!! The tragedy is that they are so clueless on how very, VERY far left their party has strayed - if Truman and JFK were around today, they’d be considered Conservatives!! At least on foreign policy - most importantly. (sorry, can’t even include FDR in that comparison) :-)

“they are mostly Liberal religiously”,

I’m a little confused about this one. I was raised Presbyterian, which is generally considered “liberal” religiously. HOWEVER, if faced with a threat whose dangerous mission is to erase not only Christianity (and Judaism), but ALL other world faiths, suddenly “liberal” goes out the window.

As I said in an earlier post, Americans appear to be the only ones with the (heretofore) luxury to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to a history that may soon be repeated...only in spades this time. (before anyone calls me on this, no pun intended, honestly)

“Can you imagine a Jewish intellectual at a prestigious American University confessing to one and all that he supports George Bush?”

Since you brought it up....a perfect example of just such a one who DOES dare is David Horowitz. And he’s more than the “butt of jokes” - he receives death threats daily, must have 24/7 security, both personally and by whatever city/university at which he courageously speaks. We’re blessed to have these few lights in the darkness, and the message that both Jews and Christians should get, is that any ideology that seeks to destroy a mere verbal assenter such as DH, should be taken very seriously indeed, and opposed at every front, in every way, while we still have the freedom and power to do so.

I was quite confused about the timing of the polling myself. If you read the whole article from the Jerusalem Post web site, you will see that the authoress (whom I know from previous writings to be pro-'Rat) refers to a "new Gallup poll" and a poll conducted by the Israel Project in March. The mention of March, however, doesn't come up until the tenth paragraph of the story. I suppose it's up to the reader to clarify the information.

If the poll showing the 61-32 edge for Obama was the one conducted by Gallup, I would carefully look through the methodology. Gallop has a long history of fudging numbers in favor of Democrats, as do many other polling operations.

I will post any new info I can find that may be relevant but omitted from the JPost story.

“Jews traditionally are wary of aggressive Christianity and many secular Jews have not yet come to the understanding that American fundamentalist Christians are great friends of Israel and hence of Jews in general.”

A shame, since it’s so important realize that we BOTH face a common, very real threat, requiring a quick education. There is no other major religion (that I’ve seen, at least) whose holy book and teachings command world domination at the (mortal) cost of all others, and a mandate to ultimately obliterate ALL who believe/worship differently. Far too many people do not grasp this concept because it’s so foreign to their own faiths and beliefs. Because all but one world religion would be content to have peace, harmony and mutual respect among the faiths.

Now that “other” world religion may have many millions who choose to co-exist and enjoy all our blessings and freedoms, but make no mistake, the fundamental teachings and “call to the faithful” of their religion is anything but peaceful and tolerant.

Unfortunately, way too many American Jews are now devoid of religion & conservatism. It has taken a back seat if any seat at all.

The new religion is popularity and acceptance into this country, almost as if they are non-jews..

When talking to friends in Israel a great deal of them are fearful on our behalf, because of Obama.. They see his true colors (not skin) the measure of the man.. they know who he is unlike many of the sheeple following this Pied Piper.

Todays American Jews don't want to think about Israel or even about the Holocaust, to them it is ancient history and no longer relevant in their day to day lives, so history is doomed to repeat itself. To them our Jewish History is just a bad memory of a time when we were a persecuted people. and now they hide in the guise of liberalism.

Once again they have turned their backs on G_D, HE is once again at the window watching His people walk away. Wallowing in the sin, falling in with rebellious people putting the god of liberalism before G_D of Israel!

“Barak Obama, of course, is the beau ideal of the black man, well-educated and articulate, who is on the right side of all of these issues and who embodies in his own person the inclusiveness which, if universally practiced, protects Jews as a class.”

A beautiful, seductive persona, veneer.....and false, false, false.

The majority of the Jews of which you speak are Reformed, which translates to not Jews at all. There is perhaps a nickel’s worth of difference between them and Unitarians, creed-wise. Liberals to the core! Israel be damned!
