I saw a map about a half hour ago, so I know where the earthquake region is.
It was surprising to me that you could feel it in Beijing. Out here, if we have earthquakes in California, they don’t feel them in Washington, D.C.

Yes, I was very surprise,too. Not only Beijing, Tailand’s capital Bangkok and Vietnam’s Capital Hanoi also felt the quake. 1/3 of the Eurasia mainland could feel it, really unbelievable!

A better comparison might be the 1811-1812 New Madrid, MO, earthquakes, which were of similar magnitude (probably an 8.0 on the biggest one) and cracked sidewalks in Washington, D.C.
