An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.
LOLOLOL
Student who is rescued!
thanks for reminding. It is better these years for the chinese people to express their opinion on line, but there’d still been some ignorable controls for normal topics. and I don’t see much religious controls as most chinese believe in nothing...and personally me too, but I had lived abroad for one year in south Korea , I do HATE the JHVH witnesses there as they annoyed me and tens of “drop by’s”
That city is BeiChang. It was posted at posts #833 and #857. I just posted it again along with an after pic.
What's special about it? I'll refer to an earlier poster's comments:
sad news:
BeiChang city so miserable,
more than 10000 human dead, and ? thousands is abscondence,
landslide destroyed the great mass of buildings
There IS a draught in spring this year in Sichuan which suffered huge damage in this earthquake. In fact, Sichuan government gave a Red Code for this draught. And it caused 8 billion lost especially in agriculture. But I didn’t know whether the draught is because of earthquake or not. It needs analysis upon history data.
“Until I see the money from those Americans, I won’t believe they care.”
On TV news this evening the report was that we have offered aid, but the Chinese government is still in the process of making up its mind about whether or how to accept it.
Prayers from Chicago for the people of China affected by this horrible disaster.
God bless.
My house is above the road and I have had vivid dreams of quakes happening here. The dreams have been so vivid to the point that the road in front of my house in my dreams has split wide open like we have seen in these China quake pictures.
Very heartbreaking.
That is why I follow the earthquake threads. I felt the April jolt. SCARED ME! Then again, I see these pics from China. I am humbled. It could happen to any of us.
LOL...
Or let your big dog out the front door.
What is a "Red Code"?
LOL
Yes me too.
I guess I am somewhat mentally preparing myself in the event it does happen here in our future.
Geez, guess what I will dream about tonight...
Gotta go, Mr. MOguy Jr.’s school day awaits, and it is my job to get him there.
Take Care stlnative, and All, MOgirl
1.our goverment is always trying to persuade us to forgive all of other govements who always uncooperateable(as public think).and as we thought, govement equals nation.so it`s not only our fault in schadenfreude of Sept-11,you also have works to do.only one govement can not effort too much.
2.out goverment is doing their best to save our people currently,so i disdain those people who treat the earthquake as a chance to rebuke our goverment.
3.currently,4500 skytroopers(every one with testament left) of PLA are trying airborne into disaster area and we know wenchuan was completely destroied, and there`re no land way to enter wenchuan.we still dont know how many people were killed now.
4.most people were camping these days.with the rain, there may be a flu over sichuan.but the aftershocks are more slightly and unfrequently,so i go home since yesterday.hope it`s not a mistake.
5.the sun appeared here just now.but there still will be rainly in the south of sichuan.seems north are becoming safely,we may go to donor blood after my classmates packed up their tents.
