An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.
(I am not a UFO believer BTW)
Yes, I love meeting people of other cultures. I have friends from Germany, The Netherlands, The UK, and France. I learn so much from the working class people.
Thank you! I have never been to China. Last year my parents spent one month there and visited many places. They liked the country and the people very much. My father told me that every time he walked outside, students would ask him to talk with them so they could practice their English. He felt honored and was very happy to help them.
I watched the BBC America news broadcast about the rescue efforts a little while ago. There wasn’t very much information. This thread is the best source of news that I have found. The pictures are horrifying. I will not sleep well tonight.
I heard a plane calling Hickam AFB last evening on HF with an active mission callsign, an RC-135 aircraft, which *might* indicate some concern with the following facility in the earthquake zone.

This would be the same type of mission that occured immediately after the Syrian event last fall.
I am about 80 miles north of the New Madrid, but the main fault that has been giving us trouble in the area is the Wabash Valley Zone. I am about 125 miles to the west of it.
I live in IL on the MO/IL line.
Any quakes that are 3.5 or higher coming from the New Madrid or the Wabash Valley I feel.
The 5.2 we had a couple weeks ago shook hard here for about 45 seconds. I knew right away when it woke me up that it was the Wabash Valley Fault because it has produced a few 3.5 quakes or higher in the last 10 years or so. The New Madrid quakes hardly ever reach 3.5 mag.
I prey we never see a 5.5 or higher coming out of the Wabash Valley or the New Madrid.

And along that line, there are some great photos of Aurora Borealis here.
Do you have DishNetwork?
If so try Channel 265
if not look for CCTV on your cable or DirectTV
I circled the CAD structures with red. Don't you think this is strange? A 'before' photo which looks like mostly models?
I agree with you Dav.
The California and Virgina rescues teams are on standby, assembled and ready for orders.
I won't tell any of my Alien friends. ;)

Welcome to FReeRepublic. It’s unusual to have so many from China register in just a couple days. And I see there are many more who registered but haven’t been on this thread. You sure got some attention.
I think you’ll find many here praying for all the victims of the earthquake. And I do mean pray in the religious sense. This is a conservative site, with Christian values. I hope that won’t be a problem for you. I’ve seen the claims that there is no religious or political persecution in China, but I don’t believe that. Please be careful.
I believe there would have to be damage. (of course they will keep quiet about it)
The Hydropower Plant in the same area is badly damaged.
your link “might” been blocked by chinese national firewall, as I cannot get access to it. and BTW I’m not familiar with the military stuff there and I’m not supposed to talk about it.whoops
darn they got me spelling pray as prey now! LOL ;->
I'm praying too. Big time. (We live in Fenton, SW St. Louis County).
