The one thing McCain has going for him is he would not be as bad for America as either Obama or Hillary would be.
I would not necessarily agree with that.
Two of his major 'errors in judgment' have been significantly detrimental to the Nation as a whole.
- His assault on the First Amendment with his Campaign Finance Reform continues. Just recently he continued to advocate outlawing 527s. Thanks the McCain-Feingold, 527s are one of the few vehicles citizens have available to express their political opinions -- legally -- thanks to McCain-Feingold.
- His continued assault on the American character with his open borders and support for amnesty for illegals continues. Yes he said we need to secure the borders, but that 'secure the borders' is just political rhetoric. Not that he never identifies how or what; instead, he leaves it up to the local politicians to say their border is secure. In the same breath, McCain still calls for 'comprehensive immigration reform' (that is 'amnesty' for those in Rio Linda).
McCain hasn't changed. He is the same 'reach across the aisle' Dem-wannabe he has been the last decade.
Anyone who votes for McCain and expects a different McCain to occupy the Oval Office need to re-read that definition of 'insanity'.

I’m sure you are right for inside the convention arena. Outside, it may be a different situation, and the press will cover it. The MoveOn and Recreate68 crowd plan on making trouble no matter who is nominated. They feel they got Obama nominated and they will be demanding their pound of flesh for it.

The MTP panel is unanimous that Obama will be the nominee “unless something happens to him.”
Now if that isn’t ominous, I don’t know what is.

McCain will become an enigma in that while he discourages us he plies a false hope to others of the moderate and lib persuasions, while hussein continues his race bid. It will be interesting to say the least but McCain should win.

They gave me my own personal little heart. Which I dutifully hug when the coughs come.
I have superglue holding my scar together. Don’t know if they used that back then.
I tell you, I reel at modern mediciine. I reel in amazement that one week ago I was writing posts about my upcoming heart surgery. Today I write about my recovery.
They keep the operating room very, very cold. Patients are wrapped in heated blankets.
Everything from superglue to baby aspirin is used for health care. I’ve gotten about four prescriptions from Walmart for $4.00 a pop.
Before this I had been a mostly healthy person with little exposure to the health care system. My eyeballs have been opened, my knowledge expanded, my thoughts race and congeal.
God’s got a mission for me and I’m trying to pay attention.
But I’m doing fine, yes I am.

Barak ‘Cocaine’ Hussein Obama, preferred by Drug cartels everywhere, Clinton Camp just needs to run a nasty picture of a druggie about Obama’s age and let Carvelle, Begala, and McAulfie link him to it before the next primary vote.

unless something happens to him.I was working on Dick Obenshain's VA Senate campaign. Was at a campaign staff lunch with him the next to the last day of his campaign. Anything can happen, as this year demonstrates.

I think youre right. About the only thing a McCain win gives us is four years to find a real conservative to run in 2012. Assuming we still have a country, in four years whoever he picks for VP will have an enormous jump start as the GOP choice...
If he picks someone like himself or worse (hucklebee, fiorina, and whoever else has been floated that I can't remember now), it will make the job of getting a real conservative much more difficult and unlikely--especially if McCain is touted as a "winner".
If he picks someone like J.C. Watts, that changes the whole equation and I will force myself to vote for him. We still have some really good conservatives IF we can convince them to run for the big one (Inhofe, Sessions, DeMint, maybe Jindal).

Even without doj, fbi or irs, the CCF is a brutal gang capable of anything. Ruthlessness can make up for a lack of power in other areas.

I don’t expect McCain to change, nor get any better. The two issues you mention plus others we know McCain will be horrible on.
Still, he will be better than Obama or Hillary. It’s not just him. Included are all the people he brings into power in all the agencies and positions of power.
