LAUREN RICHARDSON - YOU CAN HELP!
By Judie Brown

It has been a source of ongoing sadness to read of the difficulties Lauren Richardson’s father has had over the course of the past several months. For those of you who are not familiar with her case, Lauren overdosed on heroin on August 28, 2006. She suffered oxygen deprivation and, as a result of the overdose, is now in a coma and unable to speak out for herself. At the time of the overdose, Lauren was expecting a baby. Her parents honored what they knew would have been her wish and did all they could to keep her healthy and comfortable until the child was born. Today, though Lauren may not be aware of it, she is the mother of Ember Grace, who was born in February 2007.

Since the birth of her daughter, Lauren remains unable to speak of her concerns, but she has a loving father who is doing all he can to protect her from suffering the same fate as Terri Schiavo. However, Lauren’s mother, who has been named her legal guardian, is sadly not of the same opinion and is working with attorneys to pressure the courts to permit Lauren’s starvation.

Lauren’s father has kept hope alive, even at times when there appeared to be no hope in human terms. Lauren’s father is a man of hope in Christ and is dedicated to spending every breath he has on defending Lauren, regardless of what it might cost him in physical exhaustion and worldly goods. The most recent update for those concerned about Lauren tells us the following:

We struggle at times as we seek to share with the public the details of what is happening with Lauren because of the disagreement we have with Lauren’s mother. We cannot understand her reasoning in refusing a path of hope, healing and restoration for Lauren and insisting on causing her death by withholding food and water from her. The issue in Lauren’s case is the eternal truth that all people, no matter what their medical condition, bear the image of God and deserve basic care and an opportunity to be restored to health.

Bobby Schindler, Terri Schiavo’s brother, has written about Lauren in an editorial earlier this year, "False Compassion," and is working closely with Lauren’s father in order to provide expertise that he is uniquely qualified to share during a trying time like this.

There are many links on the Life for Lauren web site that will assist you in tracking this case and learning who is supporting Lauren’s ongoing care and who is opposing it. More importantly, there is something you can do to express your concerns.

ACTION NEEDED NOW

The governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner, is being asked by pro-life Americans across this nation to intervene in this case in order to save Lauren from what many fear is an imminent court order dictating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death. I am asking you to be one of those who communicates your passionate belief that Lauren’s life is sacred and deserves to be protected from those who would order her death. The governor’s e-mail address is governor.minner@state.de.us.

Further, it would mean a great deal to Lauren’s father, Randy, if you sent him a copy of your e-mail to Governor Ruth Ann Minner. Randy’s e-mail address is Lifeforlauren@aol.com

During a recent visit to Anchorage, Alaska where Bobby Schindler was invited to speak, he told a reporter from The Catholic Anchor, "Once we accept that killing is an acceptable answer to human suffering, we lose any type of parameters. Euthanasia is a form of abandonment. It is not compassion."

Truer words were never spoken. As I frequently tell people who argue that we pro-lifers are being heartless and cruel for fighting to defend the rights of a "hopeless case," "God is the author of every human being’s life, and He has never given permission to a single one of us to arbitrarily rob another human being of life for any reason including disability or illness."

As Flannery O’Connor once wrote on the subject of false compassion, "In the absence of faith, we govern by tenderness. And tenderness leads to the gas chamber."

Lauren Richardson is not terminal – she is severely disabled. Lauren Richardson should not be murdered.

I’m thinking the “running man” was probably running for his life when they slimed him with acrylic. I don’t think they waited for their exhibit specimens to be deceased. It’s also in the St. Pete Times. www.tampabay.com. Remember that exhibit was here at MOSI and it wasn’t right then and it’s still a hideous thing. Permission to slime: denied.

The "Remember Terri Schiavo" message is a good idea.

I don't know anyone who likes McCain. However, some Democrats are ecstatic that he is the GOP candidate because they consider him more liberal than some Democrats. He and Cindy are creepy.

In these grimmest of times for Hillary and B.O. this writer invokes the Legacy of Terri!

These battles of epic tragic-comedy scale are more than a passing interest to us who fight for the Terri's of the world. The outcome will affect us should one of these critters elevate to the top job.

...............................................

The passing of haute couture icon Yves Saint Laurent on Sunday ironically came at the same time Hillary Clinton said it was too soon to write her own political obituary.

And while the father of the pantsuit has in fact left us, the most famous wearer of one still clings to life support -- with advisers pushing the sad option of a convention fight that calls to mind the spectacle of the Terri Schiavo battle.

It's long past time for the Clintons and their pit bulls to pull the plug.

Even with the Clintonites complaining their way to another new finish line, Barack Obama only needs about 40 delegates to finally hit the tape.............

Although I have made light of ridiculing the three Marx brothers, Grouchy, Harpie, and Karl, I continued to brand Karl as the most sinister of the group of jokers, although he may come across as simply a buffoon. We may seek to console ourselves that whatever the outcome, even if B.O. wins, it won't be too bad as checks and balances, tattered as they are, will mitigate his blunders. But blunders they will not be, and with some force backing him and enforcing him, we may see ourselves as the new Rhodesia heading to bankrupt Zimbabwe of today. I received the following in a private email from a trusted and direct source, omitting that name for confidentiality.

It is one more reason why I rail about The Obama Nation of Islam and why I slam Islam.

....................................

This is from Billy Sam Elliott (recently retired Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Manager). I asked him if he knew these people personally and his reply is: Celeste and Loren Davis are Missionaries in Africa and can shed some light on one of our Presidential candidates.

Celeste married Missionary Loren Davis at Woodville and has been involved in his ministry ever since. They have made numerous mission trips to Africa and actually had their DC-3 shot down on one of their trips. I haven't seen Celeste in several years, but I Communicate with her by e-mail frequently.

Subject:* Obama and Kenya connection

Dear Billy Sam,

Thanks for sending out an alert about Obama. We are living and working in Kenya for almost twelve years now and know his family (tribe) well. They are the ones who were behind the recent Presidential election chaos here.

Thousands of people have been displaced by election violence (over 350,000) and I don't know the last count of the dead. Obama under 'friends of Obama' gave almost a million dollars to the opposition campaign who just happened to be his cousin, Raila Odinga, who is a socialist trained in East Germany. He has been trying to bring Kenya down for years and the last president threw him in prison for trying to subvert this country!

December 27th elections brought cries from ODM (Odinga Camp) of rigged election. *Obama and Raila speak daily*.

As we watch Obama rise in the US we are sure that whatever happens, he will use the same tactic, crying rigged election if he doesn't win and possibly cause a race war in America.

What we would like you to know is that the American press has been keeping a dirty little secret. *Obama IS a Muslim and he IS a racist* and this is a fulfillment of the 911 threat that was just the beginning. Jihad is the only true Muslim way. We have been working with them for 20 years this July!

He is not an American as we know it. Please encourage your friends and associates not to be taken in by those that are promoting him. It is world wide jihad. All our friends in Europe are very disturbed by the Muslim infiltration into their countries. By the way, his true name is Barak Hussein Muhammad Obama. Won't that sound sweet to our enemies as they swear him in on the Koran!

God Bless you.

Pray for us here in Kenya. We are still fighting for our nation to withstand the same kind of assault that every nation, Including America is fighting. Takeover from the outside to fit the new world order. As believers, this means we will be the first targets. Here in Kenya, not one mosque was burned down, but hundreds of churches were burned down, some with people in them, burned alive.

Jesus Christ is our peace *but the new world order of Globalism has infiltrated the church and* *confused believers into thinking that they can compromise and survive*. It won't be so. I will send you a Newsletter we sent out in February documenting in a more cohesive manner what I've tried to say in a few paragraphs.

Love,

Celeste

I may only link and excerpt from the Orlando Sentinal. It would appear Kottkamp worries some...

....................

* The St. Pete Times took a more in-depth look at the topic about which we posted here previously -- who would take over in the off-chance Charlie Crist leaves office. Among other things about Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, the Times noted:

"That would likely translate into more conservative activism than Crist has displayed while governor, if Kottkamp's past serves as any prologue. In 2006, he brought key conservative credentials to the gubernatorial ticket that Crist lacked. Primary rival Tom Gallagher had attacked Crist for being too liberal, and attacked his positions on abortion and gay rights for being too nuanced. Kottkamp, meanwhile, was a recognized pro-life conservative who voted in 2005 to reinsert brain-damaged Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, a move that Crist had opposed. Kottkamp received the Christian Coalition's Faith and Family Award in 2004, and the Florida Catholic Conference's Defender of Life award in 2006."..................

O.K., I'll bite. What is a fire-breathing liberal? Is it a mere redundency? A dragon from the depths of the earth? Or is it more likely a lib with super bad breath? Is it all the above? Whichever applies, it is also Wexler.

The South Florida Democrat is not kind to Bush in this book and that’s not surprising. After all, what would you expect from a self-described Fire-breathing Liberal. What is surprising is that this is a very good book.

And frankly, the Fire-breathing Liberal is the least interesting part of the book. No one would expect Wexler, a staunch and vocal defender of Bill Clinton during his impeachment hearing, to be anything else.

Yes, he breathes fire about Republicans, the 2000 election, Iraq, Terry Schiavo, Newt Gingrich, voting machines, President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney...........

With libs, I note, their default in medicine is when in doubt, kill. In this instance, their case for killing is thwarted.

Canberra, Australia (LifeNews.com) -- Ask most pro-life advocates whether abortion should be allowed in cases to protect the mother's life and they'll cite instances such as an ectopic pregnancy to justify their position. In an amazing development, one Australian mother delivered a healthy baby girl after going through a nine-month ectopic pregnancy.

An ectopic pregnancy involves situations where the developing unborn child implants into some other tissue other than the uterine wall, where a baby normally develops during pregnancy.

Most ectopic pregnancies occur in the Fallopian tube and are otherwise known as tubal pregnancies, but implantation can also occur in the cervix, ovaries, and abdomen......

I marvel at how the irony escapes liberals. In Scotland, we have the wonderful national health service and its expected bumbling delays for all matters serious to health. However if you want to kill your kid, that is a different matter. Bump to the front of the line. Where is William Wallace these days?

Glasgow, Scotland (LifeNews.com) -- Officials in Scotland have unveiled a plan to cut the waiting time for women having abortions while news reports from just months ago show British maternity wards are turning away women because they're full. While women seeking to have a baby may not get help, the government is pushing abortions forward.

The new Scotland rules say women who want an abortion within the first nine weeks of pregnancy will be guaranteed access to a physician for one.........

Reminder to all on the Terri's List...

We keep daily watch on certain cases regardless of how silent things are. That includes Lauren Richardson, Sam Golubchuk, and Haleigh Poutre. Both Lauren and Mr. Golubchuk have had little press coverage as of late, but now we have a flurry of activity on Mr. Golubchuk.

This is the first with thanks to Leslie for the tip.

..................................

A neurologist from New York has agreed to testify as a medical expert on behalf of the family of Samuel Golubchuk an Orthodox Jewish man from Winnipeg Canada.

Dr. Leon Zacharowicz agreed to work on the case pro-bono after being contacted by Agudath Israel of America. Dr. Zacharowicz is planning to go to Winnipeg sometime this summer to examine Golubchuk himself in preparation for the trial that is currently scheduled for November 2008.

Dr. Edward Reichman, a leading expert and lecturer in the field of medical ethics stated that according to Jewish ethics "If a person’s life is dependent on the ventilator, the decision to take them off the ventilator would be equal to homicide"

Dr. Reichman further stated to The Jewish Star that "The overwhelming majority of rabbinic authorities maintain that it would be prohibited to remove the respirator, if that would lead to the individual’s death."

Dr. Reichman predicts that "This case could be a real test case. It could become a terrible trend if it gets pushed through. It would be a tragedy, definitely for Orthodox Jews, but also for other patients. If it gets passed in Canada, it can succeed in the United States as well."

Awwww, it's unfair. The doctor who wanted to kill Sam just got fed up and is going away. No more fun.

.......................................

WINNIPEG — An intensive care specialist has resigned from a Winnipeg hospital rather than obey a court order to continue treating an elderly man on life support.

In his resignation letter, Dr. Anand Kumar, the man who originally made the decision to end life support, said continuing court-ordered efforts to keep Samuel Golubchuk alive are "grotesque" and "immoral".

"Given that I believe that continued support of this patient is tantamount to torture, I cannot ethically follow the mandates of the court order governing his care," Kumar wrote.

His resignation means he will no longer work rotations at the Grace, but will continue to work at other hospitals in the city.

Golubchuk, 84, has been on life support with minimal brain function at the Grace Hospital since last fall. Kumar and other doctors at the Grace hospital wanted to take him off life support, but Golubchuk's relatives have argued that would violate his beliefs as an Orthodox Jew.

In February, a judge ordered the hospital to continue treating Golubchuk until a trial can be held, likely this fall. Lawyers for the hospital asked a judge Tuesday to hold the trial as soon as possible, arguing the task of caring for Golubchuk is taking a toll on staff.

"I have been advised ... that the nurses caring for Mr. Golubchuk have experienced a great deal of additional stress in providing care that they believe is harmful to the patient's dignity and not in his best interests," hospital chief medical officer Elizabeth Cowden wrote in an affidavit filed Tuesday.

Golubchuk's health is also worsening, requiring more treatment for newly developed ulcers and other problems.

"We will likely have to continue to surgically hack away at his infected flesh at the bedside in order to keep infection at bay. This is grotesque," wrote Kumar.

But the Golubchuk family's lawyer says the hospital's position is contradictory.

"They suck and blow at the same time," Neil Kravetsky said outside court.

"Their position is that he's suffering no damages because he's not cognizant, and yet ... they describe torture which reflects a person having been tortured intentionally or suffering severe pain, so which is it?"

Kravetsky also argues the defendants have failed to provide enough medical evidence to show that Golubchuk cannot recover from his current state, which requires the aid of a ventilator and feeding tube.

Kravetsky has already produced statements from two U.S. doctors who suggested there is no evidence that Golubchuk is brain dead.

A Court of Queen's Bench judge is expected to rule by next week whether to expedite the trial.

Not only that, he spells "abomination" wrong. It is Obama Nation, Doc!

..............................

Prolonging the life of 84-year-old Samuel Golubchuk when he has virtually no hope of recovery is an "abomination," says a doctor who has resigned over the controversial case.

Golubchuk's children are waging a court fight to ensure their father is not taken off life support by staff at Grace General Hospital.

Golubchuk, an Orthodox Jew, has been on life support there since early November. In December, doctors advised the family they wanted to take the man off the system because he showed minimal brain activity, could not communicate, and showed no signs of improvement.

In March, Justice Perry Schulman granted a temporary injunction allowing Golubchuk to remain on life support until a trial could decide the issue for good.

Adhering to the court order is forcing doctors to breach their medial ethics, said Dr. Anand Kumar, who resigned his medical privileges at the hospital last month.

"If we honestly continue to follow the court mandate ... we will have to continue to surgically hack away at his infected flesh ... in order to keep infections at bay," wrote Kumar in an affidavit quoted in court yesterday.

'GROTESQUE'

"This is grotesque. To inflict this kind of assault on him without reasonable expectation of benefit is an abomination and I can't do it."

Lawyers for the Golubchuk family and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority were back in court yesterday after the WRHA filed a motion to secure an earlier trial date. The trial is set to begin in November.

Justice Marc Monnin is expected to rule on the matter in the next few days.

Exit over "abomination"

Thanks, Daniel, Allott. I can only excerpt from The American Spectator, on this pithy tale of Gianna Jesson and the very presumptive candidate of the near commie party aka Democrat.

According to Barack Obama, Gianna Jessen shouldn't exist.

Miss Jessen is an exquisite example of what anti-abortion advocates call a "survivor." Well into her third trimester of pregnancy, Gianna's biological mother was injected with a saline solution intended to induce a chemical abortion at a Los Angeles County abortion center. Eighteen hours later, and precious minutes before the abortionist's arrival, Gianna emerged. Premature and with severe injuries that resulted in cerebral palsy. But alive....

I don't need to excerpt from this source, but did anyway...

Hell yes, Faith no!

Voters capable of uncluttered thinking may finally have decided they've had their fill of religion in politics. Maybe a new breed of politician will return to their intended jobs—governing, not anxiously waiting to be anointed by pastors who pass judgment on political agendas as being spiritually accommodating.

The Bush White House has exploited religion to a fare thee well. It created an in-house "faith" office. It gave access to the likes of James Dobson, the mouthy psychologist-turned-holy roller who threatened the president of the United States to do his commands or else. It hired applicants more on the strength of their religious beliefs about abortion and gay marriage. The president turned himself into a pitiable comic figure by racing in the dead of night across country in Air Force One to sign legislation demanded by pro-life ministers to prevent life support from being unplugged from the vegetative, virtually dead Terri Schiavo...

Enough! Religion has poisoned U.S. politics

Governor Minner, look what is happening in Alaska!

Thread by wagglebee.

..........................

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, June 3, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) — The Alaska Supreme Court signed an order Friday that will keep Providence Hospital from removing Mari Chamberlain’s life-support tubes. Her husband filed a lawsuit against the hospital to prevent doctor’s from ending her life support, which would most likely result in her death.

“No one should be allowed to decide that an innocent life is worthless. A man is caring for the wife he loves; it’s not the hospital’s job to end her life,” said Senior Counsel Joe Infranco of Alliance Defense Fund (ADF). “We are pleased with the court’s decision to allow Mari to continue receiving her treatment, respecting the wishes of the patient and her husband over those of hospital bureaucrats.”

According to ADF, Providence Hospital asserts that Chamberlain’s medical treatment does her no good and that keeping her alive violates its “ethical” standards. Chamberlain’s husband, Peter, filed suit against Dr. Javed Kamali and the hospital on May 16 to keep medical staff from removing his wife’s life support, which would inevitably terminate her life.....

More from Alex Schadenberg...

............................

http://www.abc.net.au:80/news/stories/2008/06/03/2263841.htm

The court case concerning the euthanasia death of 71 year-old Graeme Wiley, who was mentally incompetent from Alzheimer’s disease, by his partner 59 year-old Shirley Justins is uncovering some important and very sad facts about the case.

The Crown is seeking a conviction for murder against Justins, while Justins has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aiding and abetting Wiley’s suicide.

Under cross-examination, Justins admitted that:
•she had a financial conflict of interest and Wiley’s death relieved her from her obligation to care for him.
• she admitted that she deliberately misled Wiley’s lawyer when she failed to tell him that Wiley had Alzheimer’s disease and was incompetent to make personal decisions. Wiley changed his will to give most of his estate to Justins less than a month before his death.
• she admitted that Wiley didn’t remember that he had daughters during his assessment in December 2005 which was four months before he changed his will to replace his daughters as the primary beneficiaries of his two million dollar estate.
• she also admitted that she paid 75-year-old Caren Jenning, more than $2,000 to get the drug (Nembutal) from Mexico for Mr Wiley.

Jenning has pleaded guilty to importing the euthanasia drug from Mexico but has pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to murder or aiding and abetting in a suicide.

Many people think that euthanasia and/or assisted suicide should be legal to give people a choice as to when and how their life should end.

The reality is that by legalizing euthanasia and/or assisted suicide society is then changing the law by allowing a person to be directly involved in taking another person's life. Justins was able to fool Wiley’s lawyer into changing his will, even when he had mid- to late- stage Alzheimer’s disease.

Is it never possible to protect vulnerable people when the prohibition for killing others has been removed.

Some would say that we should legalize assisted suicide and then regulate it in order to protect vulnerable people from similar circumstances.

The reality is that vulnerable people are highly dependent on others for their basic care. It is for this reason that their would never be a regime whereby the vulnerable will be protected from legal assisted suicide.

Even Dr. Philip Nitschke, Australia’s leading euthanasia agitator, admitted to turning a blind eye to the fact that Wylie was incompetent to decide to die by euthanasia. So much for the idea that euthanasia and assisted suicide should made available to competent persons only.

Finally, many people say, There have been no abuses in the State of Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal, so why would there be abuses in other places?

The reality is that in 2007, 49 people died by assisted suicide in Oregon and none was sent for psychiatric or psychological assessment.

Since the Oregon reports are based on the information that is gleaned from the assisted suicide reports that are sent in from the physician who prescribes assisted suicide, and since those reports are destroyed after the report is published, therefore we will never be able to prove that Wiley type cases are not happening in Oregon.

Those who favor the right to die need to re-think their position. The Wiley case is the prime example of why euthanasia and assisted suicide should never become legal because it is a direct threat to the lives of the most vulnerable members of society.
