My wife Mrs. Don-o is having gastric bypass surgery on Thursday, May 8. If all goes well, she should be discharged on Saturday.
She is very confident in the surgeon, who has done over 1800 of these operations (four hour procedure). She is doing all the research possible on her own and expects do fabulously.
The hope is for almost instant relief from diabetes and three or four related co-morbidities. The major post-op risk, statistically, is pulmonary embolism. In her case, this risk is mitigated by the fact that she's been walking and exercising a whole lot, but exacerbated by the fact that she has a presently incurable and progressive form of COPD (rheumatoid-related bronchiolitis.)
She says if y'all would pray for her she'll breathe a lot easier (!) Thanks, everybody.
Wonderful news.. thanks for the update.
Continued prayers for complete healing.
Good for you all. HE obviously made sure there where no slip ups along the way.
Listen to your nurses...
don-o, great news and so wonderful to see the Mrs. has a sense of humor with the Groucho mask.
The Lord was gracious today and we thank Him for that.
Give her a hug for me. This is the first day of a whole new life.
Congrats on the surgery success and...her sense of humor!!!!
Thank you for the update. God is good!
Good to know she is in such good spirits.
VERY BLESSED by the update.
THx
Prayers.
Happy surgery went well :)
Thanks be to God, I'm doing great. Glad nobody asked me about yesterday, however: I was crawling down Pain Lane towards Terminally Grouchy Gulch. OOh. Uh-—my abominable abdominals! Nuff said about that.
But today was almost startlingly different. I could do all my toileting almost like a normal person (ahem) and walk without gripping onto my husband. Poor guy. I think he has my finger-indentations permanently impressed into his forearm.
My blood sugar was 101 at noon. My doctor put me on 1/2 of a crushed 500 mg metformin, but pending such good results, I may not even need that. Yahoo!
I felt lifted up to high altitudes, which I can only attribute to the Lord's goodness and the besiegement of heaven by family and friends.
Don-o is making me a sugar-free custard, everyone has been ~so~ kind, and FReeper Prayer Brigade, you have served with honor. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So glad to hear you’re on the road to recovery, Mrs. Don-o!
ping - Report from herself.
Perhaps the title should be changed to ...”update in #250”
BTTT
God bless America, and you too!!!
Thanks for the good news! Prayers continue. :D
So pleased to hear that today is a much better day than yesterday, and hoping that tomorrow and the ones following will be even better. Fabulous news about the lowering of the meds. It looks like you’re on your way to a wonderful recovery.
We are so glad to hear about your great recovery and I have a feeling it will continue to get better.....
I am real happy to hear about the blood sugar and of course doing that toilet thing is sooooo important post-op.....can you tell I am a nurse?
Please so not push yourself because you may pay for it later....I have a feeling between you and God ( the ultimate healer) you are going to be just fine.....
continued prayers.....
Wonderful news. Every day will be better than the last. Enjoy the new you. God is good.
Great news, Mrs. Dono!
