Former GOP presidential candidate and close McCain friend, Fred Thompson, is set to join the presumptive GOP nominee during his visit to North Carolina next week. Since losing the South Carolina primary on Jan. 18, Thompson has been absent from the limelight-even choosing to drop out of the race via written statement.

Can you imagine the calls from the crowds, “We want you Fred, not the bozo McCain!”.
FairTax ‘brownshirts’ are like that... pay no attention to him.
Oh, that would be priceless.
I’ve had this fantasy that McCain and Fred have a deal such that McCain would pick Fred as his VP, and then resign after two months in office ...
Actually, you ARE a Hunterite. Instead of helping to nominate the most conservative realistic candidate the Republicans were fielding, you chose to waste your energies, time, etc. supporting a two-bit no-name who had zero shot of ever winning from the beginning, all the while making a complete ninny out of yourself to anybody and everybody who didn't share your rabid cult-like worship of the 2% Wonder from San Diego. YOU, and people like you, are a lot of the reason why we now have Juan McVain as our nominee. You Hunterites helped to sow discord among conservatives. And then, to top it all off, your hero went and threw his support to a RINO like Huckabee. Some conservative.
I rarely, if ever, say this to people on FR, but I will now. AuntB, why don't you shut your pie hole already?
Well I’m a Hunterite. I’m an American. And I whole heartedly support John McCain for US President.
It doesn’t mean I agree with everything he says and does but I support him without reservation.
You however, TQC, are a rude little @$$h()le.
And AuntB,
This has nothing to do with highschool popularity. McCain is going to be the next president. If he isn’t then Obama or hillary are.
You cannot help but work for one or the other. It’s simple logic.
I am willing to bet you if you look hard enough you will see Duncan Hunter working his butt off to make sure John McCain is our next president.
While we are on the matter of J.M. am I the only one who thinks he reminds me of this guy?
And you!!!! You were freaking orgasmic over Mitt Romney. Well where the heck do you think Mitt is now? He’s out there working to make John McCain our next president.
It’s time for everyone to get off the stick and realize we are going to have a lot more of the conservative agenda moved forward with John McCain than with either Clinton or Obama.
So what’s your big plan? Who will you vote for president?
You've got me confused with someone else. I don't support any liberal. That includes Willard the liberal!
You’ve got Reagan Man confused with Reganesque, GB. Reaganesque was a Mitt supporter, and Reagan Man was a Fredhead, IIRC.
Who do you plan on voting for president then?
No, pretty much all of you Hunterites (with a few notable exceptions like UltraSonic) were rude, arrogant, holier-than-thou, "100%-my-way-or-else-you're-a-dirty-red-commie-who-loves-China-and-hates-America", obnoxious, demeaning, divisive, insulting jerks since the day Mr. 2% threw his hat into the ring, and I'll bet at least 75% of the people who read this thread will nod their heads in agreement with that assessment.
So you'll pardon if I don't appear as sheepish as you'd like for me to, but you can take your criticism and shove it deep into your ear.
Back at you pal. That was not the way I handled threads but you took off right away acting the butt on this one.
There were plenty of antagonists who jumped on the hunter threads just to be jerks and NONE of their guys made it. John McCain is the nominee and that’s where we are at.
I’m sorry for calling you an a-hole.
I'm sorry for calling you all jerks, and for jumping down your throat. I also apologise for jumping down AuntB's throat. It wasn't right on either count, and I apologise to you both sincerely for posting angry.
Yes, we're stuck with who we have, and unless we want Obama, we'd better get behind him (or at least vote for him).
(sigh)
Can we all just give it a rest?
With the exception of those who thought Rudy was the real deal, a lot of people had justifiable reasons for supporting who they supported. Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, Tom Tancredo...unfortunately, they’re gone now. We were left with moderates such as Huckabee and Romney...and then we were down to only McCainiac.
We can keep on bickering like we did earlier, but can we really afford it at the moment?
John McCain, barring some event of cataclysmic proportions such as 1860 (where the relative unknown Abraham Lincoln was chosen over the presumed nominee and overwhelming favorite William Seward), is going to become the nominee of the Republican Party.
Last year, during the whole amnesty fiasco, the conservatives of America united in opposition, and held the feet of both the President and Congress to the fire. The same can be done with McCain.
Vote or don’t vote...at least vote for conservatives on a local and state level. Work from bottom to top! Organize against Democrats and for conservative Republicans! Work to get conservatives into Congress, who stick by their convictions regardless of party. Heck, I’m working at the moment towards a career in public education, and work from the ground up. It’ll be hard work working that establishment, but I’m definitely aiming to get some sanity into the system. Do something that’ll draw attention. Heck, why not run for office yourself? At least do SOMETHING.
Or you can all keep acting like Democrats at the moment, who can’t help but tear each other apart.
Your choice, really.
And now everyone apologized while I was writing. There goes five minutes of my time. XD
I think that is actually a very good point and applies to many in our lives - especially those who end up disappointing us.
