WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has ruled that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights. The decision validates Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

The court vote 6-3 to uphold Indiana's strict photo ID requirement. Democrats and civil rights groups say the law would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots.

I'm waiting for this case to be compared to Bush v. Gore. Liberals will claim that the SCOTUS is trying to give the election to McCain.

McCain=Amnesty=Destruction of this country as we know it. If amnesty passes...

Uh, not to burst your bubble or anything, but genuine no-strings amnesty will pass under a President Obama or a President Hillary. Democrats have been pushing no-strings amnesty since at least the 2nd Clinton term.

As I said, the list is wrong (I undertand that isn’t your fault, but the list is wrong, nevertheless). And there have been no recent changes — It has been this way for 2-3 years minimum. They are very strict. If your gubmint issued photo ID shows a PO Box, as mine does, then in addition to your photo ID, you have to also produce a recent utility bill, showing your physical address, which has to match the address on their roles.

Starting with next paragraph are requirements to vote copied from AZ Secy of State website. Link to site follows.:

Acceptable forms of identification with photograph, name, and address of the elector

Valid Arizona driver license
Valid Arizona nonoperating identification license
Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification

Say what you want about Bush, but he has appointed 2 very good justices to the bench.

The second was forced on him by the conservative backlash

I’ve actually begun to look forward to Supreme Court rulings of late.

The difference is that with a Demonkat prez, the Pub Congress Critters will at least put up a fight against such legislation. With a McWhacked presidency, they will hardly oppose Johnnie's Leftist proposals, since as Prez, he will be the leader of the party.

Can someone tell me why it's so hard for “women and minorities” to obtain a photo ID? Even if one has no drivers license you can still get a photo ID through the state. Oh wait, that would take initiative, money, and proper birth certificate.

When it comes to buying cigarettes and liquor it's amazing how many people of every race, sex, etc. can come up with a photo identification.

From your link which I wish every state did require photo ID. But you link doesn't state that as such:

Every qualified elector is required to show proof of identity at the polling place before receiving a ballot. The elector shall announce his/her name and place of residence to the election official and present one form of identification that bears the name, address, and photograph of the elector or two different forms of identification that bear the name and address of the elector.

Now skip down a bit:

Acceptable forms of identification without a photograph that bear the name and address of the elector (two required)

And under that it gives a list of acceptable ids.

In my personal opinion, all voters should be fingerprinted the first time they register, we have the technology to do so, heck, you don't even need to get ink on your fingers now with the electronic machines they have. Then, at each polling place, instead of spending valuable dollars on useless electronic voting machines they could purchase finger print readers, with all the voters of that precinct loaded into the reader, you come up to vote, let is scan your prints and viola, you are identified as either a valid voter or someone bent on fraud(or maybe an honest mistake).

The main thing to do, besides photo ID, is to stop Absentee voting except for the most extreme cases, and each(absentee) voter must be fingerprinted the first time and the finger prints renewed at 2 year intervals.

Just a few common sense ways to reduce(you can never eliminate it entirely)voter fraud.

George W Bush’s supreme court is beginning to be felt across this land. Thank goodness we all fought hard to make sure he made the best possible choices. It wasn’t easy, but we at FR certainly had a hand in that fight.

The 3 idiots who voted against should be thrown out and not be allowed anywhere near public office again.
