A court document says one phone number used to report alleged abuse at a polygamist retreat in Texas had been used previously by a 33-year-old Colorado woman.
It's not yet clear whether authorities suspect Rozita Swinton of Colorado Springs made any of the calls that triggered this month's raid of the compound.
An arrest warrant affidavit made public Wednesday says a phone number she had used previously was used for a call to a Texas crisis center before authorities conducted the raid and removed more than 400 children. Swinton's whereabouts are unknown.
Authorities have said a 16-year-old girl called a crisis center claiming she was abused at the compound. Authorities have not found that girl but say they have found evidence other children were abused.
It’s not false swearing if they believe what they’re swearing to.
They said they got a call, purported to be from the girl, and want a search warrant to check it out. That’s all true.
I supposet there’s a chance this will affect the criminal cases, but I haven’t found anyone that said it would affect the childrens’ status.
Note that when this poster references the FLDS moniker, they spell it "fLDS", in colors, so nobody can miss their point about lumping all LDS into the activities by the FLDS.
I am perfectly calm.
Instead of addressing the issue of whether or not charges have been filed against Ms. Swinton, you are spinning this into irrational claims against me. It is you who posted articles that lie. Do you care to issue a retraction?
Is Rosita Swinton facing charges in connection with this case? Can you give us a legitimate link? One perhaps from a news source?
sounds like this woman needs mental help.......what a sad pathetic person.......explains a lot that she is a dem delegate doesn’t it? rme
I don’t think I have seen that! Nor have I been called, referred, or hinted at being.
—watch out for a red pick up truck with FL plates heading to Texas!!!
Yes, our knowledge of the case is changing hourly as more facts come out. At some point a person will NOT be arrested for something, and then at a later point they WILL be arrested, and the old article that said they were not yet arrested will still be viewable.
Nice thing is, if we all stop jumping to conclusions and making final pronouncements, the truth will trickle out and we will all know it.
In the meantime, there are many things that have been posted as fact that were simply “what was known”, and may now be known false, but the threads will hold them for posterity.
Any time there is breaking news, it’s best to have a new thread a week later where you can post what is NOW known as fact, because the original thread is almost always useless for knowing the truth.
WOn’t matter. If it wasn’t that Dave, it was someone else. The story will be fake, but accurate.
Where is the link to story?? Of so called court document?
In colors?
Is there a link to this affy? That would help clear this up. Reporters have been known to get things wrong. I’d like to see the original document.
Someone last night was suggesting that the original crisis center call HAD to have been legit, because the caller said her name was “Sarah Jessop Barlow,” and the authorities now have four girls by that name in protective custody. So Sarah must be one of these girls, not some crazy lady in Colorado.
As if a scam artist with Google couldn’t come up with a fake name like “Sarah Jessop Barlow”! Everybody in that compound is a Jessop or a Barlow.
Here is one of the orginial storys about the woman, http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/15928947/detail.html
I meant the FReepers who are objecting to the Texas fishing expedition are motivated by their libertarian bent. The villifiers you mention are motivated by their MDS. :-)
you just need to go ahead and fall in line and agree that these “cultists” deserved their rights to be violated!

And there was that little issue about the fact that they could have nabbed Koresh on any number of times he was away from the compound, without endangering the whole group.
HEY! We are not interested in any suggestions that there is a similarity between the Branch Davidians and the FLDS and the way the govt trampled their rights on this thread. so you go ahead and fall in line.

Here is the news story that put the lie to this whole silly post:http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695271689,00.html
We could almost put it on a macro, it's been asked so many times. I'm starting to think it's not that they truly want the answer, it's that they're trying to create a smokescreen to detract from what's been going on at that ranch.
But this is a new affidavit, SUPPOSEDLY alleging that Swinton’s # was used to call the Texas shelter.
The problem is, the affidavit is for a completely different case. Why would they be mentioning the Texas case in a Colorado court case about an event that happened months before this Texas event?
