THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.
What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

A great deal of land will be reclaimed as the oceans recede and the ice expands. We will simply have to move to a more temperate climate or do what we should have been for a while and building a ship to get the hell off this frigging rock.

Yes, but warm is one thing, hot is quite another. Granted, the world was Hot, damn hot, when it was formed and volcanic and tectonic activity were high, but for the most part, the extremes have skewed to the cold, damn cold, side of the equation.
I can deal with warm. Actually, I can deal with cold (to a degree) as well. But if given the choice, I'll take warm over a mile thick sheet of ice.
