THE RACE: The presidential race for Democrats nationally

___

THE NUMBERS

Barack Obama, 54 percent

Hillary Rodham Clinton, 35 percent

___

OF INTEREST:

Obama's huge lead in this Newsweek poll marks a big shift from the magazine's last survey in March, when he and Clinton were essentially tied. Besides Obama's usual leads among men, blacks and young people, he leads in this poll among women and older voters and is about even among whites. In a matchup against Republican candidate John McCain, both Democrats are ahead slightly.

___

The Newsweek poll was conducted April 16-17 by Princeton Survey Research Associated International. It involved telephone interviews with 1,209 registered voters, for whom the margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points. Included were interviews with 588 registered Democrats and Democratic leaners, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5 points.

I guess lying about “Sniper Fire” trumps a 20 year relationship with a marxist Racist Preacher as a negative

Disheartening, isn't it? One porkie seems to outweigh all the revelations about who the "messiah" really is, which is anything but what he says. She twists the truth to appear more heroic and he's a mountain of malevolent deceit.

Never believe a Newsweek poll. Never. Newsweek is so in the back pocket of the Democratic Party that it rivals NYT as the official rag of the party.

“It looks like 89% of democrats are idiots.”

I was thinking more along the lines of insanity.

Do you suppose there will be any consequences for Newsweek, and those responsible for printing this rigged poll?

Push polling, it looks like to me . Watch her win by 20 points in Pennsylvania.

My take also. This poll seems too high after this really bad week for him.

This is not surprising, and it means two things: First, the heart of the democrats is FAR to the left. They must be sick of all the lying and all the concealment. BHO finally gives thema candidate who will talk the talk and walk the walk, and they love him for it. Secondly, everybody hates Hillary Clinton.

This poll sounds way off. I don't trust it.

I've been watching Rasmussen's polls and there has been a national shift towards Obama but not of this magnitude.

Perhaps dims outside of PA are realizing she is self-centered and will drag this out even if it costs dims the general election.

Howard (Arrggghyeaaah!) Dean is starting to panic.

I hate to say this but I think they are planning to run Chelsea in the future, so they will never be out of our lives.

Good point. After all, we still have Ted Kennedy and his relations.
