Time Magazine: WWII Vets Angered Over Cover Photo
DBKP ^ | April 18, 2008 | LBG

The Daily Mail in the U.K. is reporting that WWII veterans are furious over next week’s cover of TIME and the manipulation of the famous photo of marines raising the United States flag during the battle at Iwo Jima after TIME replaced the flag with a tree for the article, “How to Win The War on Global Warming”.

One Imo Jima veteran, 81-year-old Donald Mates, felt the Times’ cover was “an absolute disgrace” and that “Whoever did this is going to hell.” He went to say it was a “mortal sin”.

Why would veterans be upset about TIME magazine essentially photoshopping, or digitally altering a photo, albeit a rather famous one from so long ago?

We decided to take a look back at the history of the photographer and the photo that spoke more than a thousand words.

Time no longer pretends to be an objective news source. Nothing is more sacred than their shameless shilling for the increased government taxes and control that global warming legislation will bring.

The vets are right to be angry. Hopefully, there will be a lot of canceled Time subscriptions over this one.

Scandle, Time has scored!!!! That’s all it cares about.

It can’t figure out why vets would be upset, but that’s only the latest in a long line of stuff Time couldn’t figure out, or better yet get right as it has flailed to connect with wholesome patriotic values over the last twenty years or so.

It will ignore the vets just like it has every other wholesome value over recent years.

I thought this might be a serious story until I discovered it was from the Onion

The onion is more respectable than Time.

Time Mag has no reluctance to insult veterans, Christians, etc. But they’re scared to death of Islam.

One can hope, if that’s even possible for a leftist rag in this nation anymore. Can they possibly find a way to cross the line? It almost looks as if they are desperately seeking a way to do it these days, and can’t find it.

What about when they named the Ayatollah Khomeini the Man of the Year?

Hopefully, there will be a lot of canceled Time subscriptions over this one.

I doubt there are that many subscriptions left to be canceled.

When Time says that "green is the new red, white and blue," isn't it in effect questioning the patriotism of those who don't buy into the alarmist global warming agenda?

The iconic image has been parodied and referenced a number of times. I seem to recall even Mad Magazine taking a stab at it in the 1970s.

But Mad is SATIRE (and by the 1970s, quite juvenile) while Time-Lies pretends to be “journalism”.

And photomanipulation is different than a painted image that cites the original.

Was it Time or Newsweak that proclaimed God “dead” in the 1960s?

Congrats. Your public school money still funds it as a lie-brary reference material.
