Dems., Seeking to Hamstring McCain, to File Public Financing Suit
The Washington Post ^ | April 13, 2008 | Matthew Mosk

I searched and could not find this posted. Seems the DNC has decided to file suit as of this morning.

The Democratic National Committee announced today it will file a lawsuit in U.S. District Court Monday to force Sen. John McCain to stay in the public financing system until he formally accepts the Republican presidential nomination in September.

Hmmmm... I read that it was spelled that way on his birth certificate, and he changed the spelling later.

I guess I better research before I do it again, you’re right.

>and will give McCain an easy victory.

Dream on.
If Hillary is the nominee, she will roll over mccain like a steamroller. 30 state loss for the GOP

Obama is his only chance, and even that won't be easy, but the dems could not have found a weaker candidate in the entire free world.

Still, underestimating the numbers, the historical trend, and the clear mindset that almost won Kerry the big one, is ignoring the obvious.

Anyone but any Republican!

Except he didn’t obligate himself to take public financing in exchange for a loan.

He obligated himself to FILE for public financing should his campaign be unable to raise the funds needed privately to pay back the loans.

He had previously obtained approval for public financing, thus showing he could get approval again. That is where the Democrats hang their tenous thread of legal basis for this lawsuit.

In fact, the law has always been interpreted to allow candidates to withdraw from a public financing request so long as they had not yet received money, and had not used the promise of money as collateral.

In this case McCain neither took money, nor used his current approval for public financing to obtain anything of value. His loan did not require him to keep the public financing he already had gotten approval for.

In fact, the FEC would have already ruled in his favor if the democrats allowed Bush to appoint enough of them to have a quorum.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like the McCain-Feingold chickens are coming home to roost.

This one transcends “priceless.”

It’s one of those rare situations when BUZZARDS come home to roost.

Just gotta love it.

"I read that it was spelled that way on his birth certificate, and he changed the spelling later."

Really? That would be very interesting indeed. Hm, he changed his name to the more Islamic'ly-pronounced version? Rich, if true! Please do keep an eye out for that, and reply back here if so!

LOL, dream on. People in this country don't vote issues, they vote "likability" McCains favorability ratings are high 60's, Billary's are mid 40's. Even if people did consider issues this time around, her lying, race baiting campaign has and will turn off millions.

there’s something very special and symbolic to be named for the steed who magically conveyed the prophet to Paradise.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Baraq is not much more than a winged horse fart. His neocolonialism in Kenya ocassioned genocide. His religious views are anti-white, racist , and black nationalist. He pretends hope and change , and national unity? He actually represents the opposite of his bought and paid campaign imagry.

Horse pucky indeed.

May "Baraq"swiftly be put out to the pasture he so richly deserves.

Or even better, may he soon see the inside of a glue factory.

LOL, dream on. People in this country don't vote issues, they vote “likability” ..

McCain will lose 30 - 34 states to Hillary, and I am ready to place a LOT of money on that stance.

her lying, race baiting campaign has and will turn off millions.

Delusional. No basis in reality at all.
Those people are already “turned off” to Hillary and her ratings would skyrocket over McHill if she secures the nomination.
The money will pour in and the media will be at hand 24/7.

30 states is a conservative bet.
McCain is nobody at all. Not even a speed bump for the Clintons.

What does McCain need money for? Rush Limbaugh and Arianna Huffington (a BHO supporter!) are doing all his heavy lifting!

LOL, McCain is a “nobody”? You are on some serious drugs, my friend and I mean SERIOUS drugs.

Your claims are so totally outlandish and lacking of a shred of supporting evidence that they are not to be even lightly considered.

Voters like McCain because they don’t know much about him. Witness the fact that fewer than 40% of those who voted for him in the primary knew he was the main culprit behind the amnesty bill. In fact, I know people who voted for him because they thought he was an immigration hardliner. They don’t pay much attention to politics, but they had heard his name in relation to immigration and assumed that a POW “war hero” would never sell out his country to Mexico.
McCain has the distinct (and rare) advantage right now of being an unknown quantity with good name recognition.

People do vote likeability, especially the swing voters who decide elections. And how do they decide whether a candidate is likeable? By their media created persona, of course. Which is why all the sound and fury about Obama’s pastor and his foot-in-mouth disease in only so much static right now. Regardless of what he says or does, the lefties will vote for him, the righties will not, and the swing voters are glad new episodes of their favorite sitcoms are back on TV. The voters who will decide this election won’t start paying attention until around October.

If Hillary wins the nomination, the media will destroy McCain’s reputation to get her into office. Ditto if Obama wins. Count on it. Hillary and Obama are both weak candidates, and the only way they win is for the media to make McCain appear less likeable than they. Fortunately for them, there’s plenty about McCain’s past, personal life and actions in office for people to despise, but the vast majority of the electorate is unaware of it. Yet.
