FLDS women seek Texas governor's help
Deseret News ^ | April 13, 2008 | Nancy Perkins

SAN ANGELO — A Texas judge on Sunday ordered law enforcement officials to immediately confiscate all cell phones in the possession of FLDS women and children now housed in temporary quarters here. "I just called to say, hi. They are about to collect the phones, I think," one soft-spoken FLDS woman said during a telephone call to another member of the Fundamentalist LDS Church who was outside of the shelter. "I don't like what they're doing."

Several of the women inside the shelters spoke by cell phone to the Deseret News on Saturday to describe the living conditions there. Children could be heard crying in the background of each conversation. The News published an article on Sunday, quoting the women who complained there was no privacy and that their children were getting sick.

FLDS faithful outside the shelter are convinced Sunday's court order is a direct result of the women speaking to the newspaper.

"This is nothing more than retaliation of Child Protective Services to punish those who were disclosing what is really happening behind the walls of this concentration camp," said Don, an FLDS member who asked that his last name not be used. "These are my family members."

Mostly there are Freepers who want Revenge for Waco....
It’s a parallel between how Rodney King’s verdict affected the OJ Simpson trial.

Same mindset as far as I can tell.

NOTHING the government will do here will be good enough and NOTHING that the group has done will be bad enough.

Have all the mothers returned to the ranch??

If so, then my sympathy goes right out the door.

Could they have already issued a gag order and it was violated? Could be that evidence of witness tampering has already occured via cell phones? I don’t know....but you are dealing with those who pretty much are like aliens from another planet with little concept of ‘our’ world.

I don’t know all the details.

Remember, like in all things, we don’t know or are privy to everything that has happened. And this article was clearly posted to yank chains, which it did....

You nailed that one.

It's pretty sad, too.

I sure would hope that someone would take some action if I was being held against my will, instead of being so worried about their own rights and freedoms that they tie the hands of the only entity who could legally do anything about it.

It seems that the only other options are to ignore it and let it continue. Or vigilante justice. Are those the better options?

I haven't seen those condemning the government offer any better suggestions on what to do about this group.

Other than returning everyone home and just letting it continue. There are those who seem to side with the peds, perves and philanderers on many a thread. Secret wishes? Hellifino. /sarc

I just love how the Mormon newspaper in Utah attempts to make us feel sorry for women like Monica.

No doubt she would have no problem sending her 14 year old daughter off with a man 3 times her age.

Monica, you brainwashed woman, I have no sympathy for you.

I can tell you that this bunch of women will come out of there with the biggest sob story you ever will hear.

They are all about protecting their sick husbands, to the detriment of their own children.

If they don’t get the picture on even FR, probably the Republic is lost.

Texas officials will not allow her to see her children

She allowed the children to live in an abusive and criminal environment. She's not an innocent victim. She is complicit.

Those women were done a favor by the CPS, by letting them go with their children.

To let them have the ability to lie and distort everything that is happening in there would make no sense.

One of the women said the children were being touched in an inappropriate way by the medical people.

Do you believe that? I sure don't.

These brainwashed crazy women were taking orders from their men. To portray what is going on as abuse.

I love the mantra. We can’t let the government stop them because we might lose our rights.

Did it ever occur to some people that if we don’t let the government stop people like that, we might lose our rights anyway?

Here is an example of how the outside world is portrayed to these kids.
This little boy had no doubt that the dr. wouldn’t have a clue as to the song he was going to sing.

The children seem happy, laughing and playing like children everywhere.
As he met with one mother and her 8-year-old, the boy said he knew a song that Smith did not know.
The boy began to sing “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” - and, to his surprise, Smith joined in. “He was really amazed I knew it,” he said.
Another woman he met was quite distressed because two daughters had been taken away for interviews.
“She had no idea whether they were going to be returned or not,” he said.

Did it ever occur to some people that if we don’t let the government stop people like that, we might lose our rights anyway?

The mass exterminations of the last century were committed by Communists and Nazis, secular political parties that held to atheistic and pagan worldviews, respectively, through the instruments of governments they controlled. Fringe religious groups like these fundamentalist Mormons, the followers of David Koresh, or the Jim Jones group in Guyana are often guilty of abuse of their members. However, such groups characteristically pose no danger to society at large.

It is government, not self-isolated cults, that is the persistent enemy of individual liberty and civil society, a fact our Founding Fathers recognized, but that modern day liberals and psuedo-conservatives have forgotten.

The reason Texas has the wrong guy is for that fact that there are so many damn Dale Barlows in this cult.

Per CNN.

Their ‘spirit’ husbands were no doubt hiding behind their skirts, offering advise and ordering them to not give in to the truth!

BTW, why aren't the men seeking the governor's help?

ONCE AGAIN, THOSE BASTARDS ARE HIDING BEHIND THEIR WIVES SKIRTS.

San Angelo, a city of about 80,000 population, has plenty of motels where the FLDS women and children could be held. Placing them in 19th Century calvary barracks rather than standard motel rooms is clearly a publicity stunt on the part of the CPS and the law enforcement agencies to hold them up as anachronisms, especially as the women were dressed in their Victorian era clothing. This would be more difficult to do if they were at a Best Western or an Econo Lodge.

I don’t agree. It’s not a publicity stunt. They have over 400 women and children to care for. Think of the security issues.

So who the hell was forcing those teenage girls into the beds of middle-aged men? The government?

What kind of individual liberty do those brainwashed girls have?

You and you ilk don't give a damn about them, in fact I suspect your kind is sorta jealous.
