I love the mantra. We can’t let the government stop them because we might lose our rights.

Did it ever occur to some people that if we don’t let the government stop people like that, we might lose our rights anyway?

The mass exterminations of the last century were committed by Communists and Nazis, secular political parties that held to atheistic and pagan worldviews, respectively, through the instruments of governments they controlled. Fringe religious groups like these fundamentalist Mormons, the followers of David Koresh, or the Jim Jones group in Guyana are often guilty of abuse of their members. However, such groups characteristically pose no danger to society at large.

It is government, not self-isolated cults, that is the persistent enemy of individual liberty and civil society, a fact our Founding Fathers recognized, but that modern day liberals and psuedo-conservatives have forgotten.

That's a nice straw man. But very few, if any, are saying the government should do nothing. It's how they go about it that in dispute. Freedom is about process, and if they can use a process which violates the Constitutions of the US and Texas, if it does, on these people, they will be using on others, sooner or later, and most likely sooner. That is my concern and the concern of many others.

"For the Children" is supposed to be Janet Reno and Hillary's mantra, not FReepers.
