Make Election Even Tastier By Adding Rice
Investor's Business Daily ^ | Monday, April 07, 2008 | EUGENE ROBINSON

Oh please oh please oh please. I know it's undignified to beg, but please let John McCain pick Condoleezza Rice as his running mate.

I know that this campaign has already bestowed an embarrassment of riches upon those of us who are paid to watch and listen. With its vivid, compelling characters, its abrupt reversals of fortune and its ever-rising stakes, the presidential contest has been the best reality show on television. It seems almost greedy to hope for yet another infusion of star power so late in the season.

why?

i think it would be a big mistake... she does not bring votes to the ticket... she will not bring the female vote... she will not bring the black vote... she will not add any state to the GOP column... i don't understand why some people are still thinking she would be an asset... i have nothing against her... she's a smart woman... she would be a GOP nightmare--in my opinion...

Speaking of rice, has anyone tried out that vocabulary testing site called “free rice”. My boyfriend and I have lots of fun seeing who can get and keep the higher score.

A black woman with gravitas. That would throw out some of their arguments.

But I do think we need someone who will bring lots of votes and who understands the economy. The Florida governor looks good to me.

"Whatever you think of Condoleezza Rice, she's a formidable woman with more qualifications than almost any other vice presidential choice I can think of. We'd get to watch another brilliant political novice try to take the country by storm.

And, as a bonus, there would be the piano recitals, the early-morning workouts, the skybox appearances at football games, the impromptu lectures on Russian history (in Russian), the daily fashion show . . ."

Not to mention that she's "mildly" pro-choice.

Other than that...is this all there is?

Thank you, but no thanks.

Hold the Rice, I want a politically incorrect meal of Conservative Meat and Potatoes.

“Wouldn’t this be the rats worst nightmare!”

It might get enough rat votes to counter the conservatives she would lose.

She would certainly guarntee that I would vote 3rd party.

She’s a one world socialist.

Is Rice also pro-affirmative action? Why is she still not married? Is putting anybody from the present Bush administration on the McCain Presidential ticket really a good idea with so many people anti-George W. Bush? Has Rice really been either great or a disaster in everything that she has done up to this point? How does adding Rice truly help with getting enough conservatives to truly vote for McCain on November 4?

I’m not really pro-Rice but I do think the ultimate answer to the Democrats choice of woman or black is interesting to think about.

I’m not even all the pro-McCain, I wanted Fred. We conservatives have been marginalized. That being said...we had the WH and the congress and we still have Roe v Wade. I just don’t see how it will ever change.

So you’re saying it’s either a globalist or Pat Buchanan? That’s peculiar.

I'm sorry you can't understand that a colonel walks behind the president,
with a briefcase waiting to kill all mankind for a reason.
You seem to think that a Russian trained college graduate who gets laughed
at for her unsophisticated Russian speech should be allowed to control that
briefcase and must be a qualified leader.
Rice in 2055 is OK with me, I'll be long dead.

Nah...Buchanan just came to mind when you mentioned a non-globalist.

Who do you suggest?

I find that rice is a great sidedish for something of substance.......Juan McDole floating in Budweiser is not my idea of a substantive main meal.

I only posted the editorial because I thought it was interesting and sort of funny, not that I necessarily agree. Sheesh!

However, she’s more qualified as Hillary or Obama and so what if her Russian is unsophisticated. Her resume way outflanks the current candidates. I’d rather have Rice in charge of that briefcase than Hillary.
