BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Authorities enter Eldorado-area temple (Fundamentalist LDS cult)
Go San Angelo ^ | 5 April 08 | Paul A. Anthony

Posted on 04/06/2008 5:27:22 AM PDT by SkyPilot

Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.

The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.

The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.

Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.

“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”

Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.

Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.

“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”

Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.

Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.

The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.

“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.

The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.

“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.

Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.

Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.

“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

You make such leaps that we don't like the Bible when it to is another witness to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Another witness? There is only ONE.

...there isn't any "leap" to quote your Article of Faith #8. You pick and choose from the Bible, while falling back on the "it isn't translated correctly" when the Bible conflicts with your Joseph Smith fallacies.

The Articles of Faith
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
  10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Joseph Smith

I have said many times that plural marriage in many ways was a beautiful things.

I doubt that is a wise comment on this particular thread, but you are defending polygamy, just as I stated: "By the same token, it's interesting that they deny the LDS practice polygamy, and here they are on all the polygamy threads defending it. The more they defend it, the more folks are reminded of their own polygamous history. If I were still mormon, I'd stay far away from polygamy in any form."

Many non members like to blame the LDS as though they had the say, when it was the Lord call and only the Lord knew when mission was completed.

Well, I guess we'll just have to take your word for THAT, won't we? The timing of the "Lord's call" certainly was convenient for allowing Utah to gain statehood, just as the revelation granting priesthood to blacks was convenient during the civil rights movement.

As I said, it's quite entertaining.

So, if their paperwork is in order the LEO's have a little explaining to do.

I believe you are mistaken. LEOs never have to explain their actions anymore.

They did not write the law.

Deatbeat "fathers" should be supporting their own children.

We did write that law. And they don't respect that law any more than they respect the laws on marriage.

They lie about paternity - they lie about their "marriage", they lie period. I have no problem with our laws - helping those in need is fine.

Helping these child rapists and paying for their so-called "religion" and bastard children is NOT fine.

Seriously, I doubt that will happen here.

The feds aren’t involved in this one.

Apparently, they don't have a need to destroy a bunch of evidence of their wrongdoing.

“They lie about paternity - they lie about their “marriage”, they lie period.”

They learned from their prophet. This was what he taught them to do.

Go read 2 Samuel 12.

This is the verse - KJV:

15. And Nathan departed unto his house. And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.

With very many infants lost to death during their first few days of life at this time period; were they ALL "KILLED" by God?

The legends of the bearded white Quetzecoatl are numerous, and have evolved over the centuries.

And, if they keep it up, you'll find that they make it into the LDS lexicon.

They learned from their prophet. This was what he taught them to do.

We all pick the people we listen to - you do, I do. The people who "learn" from him, chose to "learn" from him. They are part of the game and just as evil as he is... One more reason his, and his cult's attacks on children, are such an abomination.

I believe you are mistaken. LEOs never have to explain their actions anymore.

Perhaps that is why nowdays you see LEO's wearing masks to hide their ID?

Quite appropriate in this "incident," ie the raid, detaining 200 people, etc, as they still can not locate the witness. Well, at least that was as of this morning.

Now, combined that with the initial info that the guy named in the warrant is not living there. Turns out the alleged perpetrator has actually been living in Arizona, not at the Texas facility which is where he was found NOT to be just hours after the raid. At the time of the raid he was at his residence. In Arizona.

The "witness" (16 year old girl) should have known that he was not living there but they did not. This seems to indicate that the two phone calls that the warrant was based on were placed by someone outside "the loop" and did not know that the guy didn't even live there.

Following that out, is is possible that the alleged 16 year old girl with and 8 month old baby that no one can locate does not exist and the entire thing was a sucker frame-up.

I'm enjoying watching the cognitive dissonance of the mormons here whose creed states "We believe in the Bible as far as it is correctly translated, cite the Bible to defend the theory that Jesus was the descendant of polygamists, while they vehemently deny that Joseph Smith had ANY children with any of his 33+ polygamous wives.

What ??

This CAN'T be true!!

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132

51–57, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.

51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I command mine handmaid, Emma Smith, to abide and acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God, will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to brejoice

Eliza was a devout Mormon.
At age 38, she became Joseph Smith's 14th plural wife (in addition to Smith's lawful wife, Emma).
In 1842, after learning Eliza was pregnant, Emma Smith beat Eliza with a broomstick and knocked her down a flight of stairs, causing Eliza to miscarry Smith's baby.

Wow!!

I guess ol' Emma got VAPORIZED by GOD!!!

We know that multiply him thing sure didn't work out!
