said he’ll go ahead and back his longtime immigration-reform foe, McCain, because he thinks either of the Democratic alternatives would be worse.

He thinks......... I believe it is evident that either would be worse. But at least Tancredo realizes that you have to go with what you have not what you wish you had. The key is to try for as many down ticket wins as possible to help build support in order to help hold the line on McCain when he gets too far out in left field.

Pragmatists are by definition valueless people!!!

Pragmatism, like constant moderation is no virtue and constant capitulation to lesser things for our country is a vice!!!

Anyone who supports a socialist like McCain is not a Conservative

With all due respect Sir, who are you to judge my heart and know what lies there?

I remember the 2006 election and true Conservatives voting against Rino's. We now have democrats in control of every committee, house and senate. For instance the House Intel committee has 12 dem and 9 republicans.

Think about that and what giving dems control of both houses of congress has done for our country.

Now, give the dems control of the Exe. and then tell me about true conservatism.

Better incremental socialism — where there is at least time to offer opposition — than the instant socialism of a Hillary! or Obama and a Democrat Congress. Their “program” would be in place before anyone knew what hit ‘em.

Are you serious! The fallacy with your thinking is that there is no end point. It's always just a little more socialism this election as if the party is trying to convince itself of taking a strong conservative stand in the future but that never happens. You take one more step towards socialism with the ludicrous attitude! Socialists never consider incremental Conservatism but somehow this obvious fact escapes you and many others in the GOP.

Stuffy “protest voters” in ‘06 gave us our present insanely goofy Congress.

No, the Republican party abandoning conservative principles by appeasing socialists in order to expand the voting base to win the election gave us a socialist dominated Congress. The only problem is the party wins nothing by including in the party the very people who seek to destroy the party and replace our Democratic Republic with socialism.

Remember: If you vote McCain and a conservative Republican Congress to keep an eye on him, you are light years ahead of Hillary! or Obama with a blank check.

You need to understand you will be voting for a socialist when voting for McCain. You're failure to look past the R and D will be your's and the nation's undoing!

Could the drama queen tancredo please can the Hamlet impression

I ask myself the exact same question. Daily. And I'm not doing a "Hamlet impression", either.

There are millions of Conservatives asking the same question.

Think about that and what giving dems control of both houses of congress has done for our country.

What gave the socialists control of Congress was the GOP incrementally relinquishing what was once its conservative principles to the socialists and thereby abandoning Conservatives in the process. That same process is continuing with the GOP by aligning itself with the socialists Democrats to the point where they are essentially one party.

Sorry, D1. It is just so following the Schwarzenegger model that I decided to ping a few folks.

I’m saddened by this move because I see it as just the beginning of what we will see for the coming years with a McCain presidency. If the Tancredos of the world have now been silenced, there will be no stopping a liberal(R) leader who has the support of democrats and has been able to squelch opposition from the right—on Amnesty, Global Warming, LOST, etc. The ‘third way’ global governance politicians are succeeding and all some can do is rail against those who are trying to warn them, calling them “McCain haters.”

I don’t know what it is going to take to wake some folks up.

“If the Tancredos of the world have now been silenced,”

It amazes me to see people who you thought were upstanding, conservative, Americans sell their soul to evil, vile, corruption.

It does not bode well for our future.

I hope all conservatives who rightfully despise McCain will follow him and support McCain, if not for him, at least against the Democommunist Party.

I hope so too (hence the tagline) but talking about how bad the alternative would be is usually not a winning strategy. The dems tried that in 2004. However, since it really is true this time maybe it will work! I'm counting on the 'rats to keep fighting each other. Go Hildog!
