How sweet kitty..
I wish my back was just tissue strain etc. so many people suggest salves/rubs & for me they would not do more than a little topical help .. and I do have some & use them.
I wish gels woujld help as they do for some people.. I have advanced arthritis of back, stenosis of spinal cord, 3 herniated discs & osteoporosis.
the pain is incredible. Without the 3 Excedrin’s 5 times a day it would be unbearable. TheI have access to free perscription meds..but dont want to go on the muscle relaxants or the narcotics.. chiropractic visits do help & if I could afford to go 3 times a week, I would
I go about 3 times a month. I also think that massage would help.. therapeutic. not a friend giving a back rub type. Mom & I live on an incredibly low amount of $$ & so we just cant do things to help like this. I massage her a couple times a week. But she is an invalid & will rub areas on me now & then but it is hard for her. She has an incredibly sensitive touch & always gave great massages to me as I was growing up. She would have done great with that as a profession
She cannot walk for a few years. But she does have a good mind/memory and so at 89 we are grateful & just plug along the best we can.
I do not have health insurance & even if I did I would not go for surgery. I have had a couple dozen Older friends(my age) who have had back surgery & all regret it. My brother 7 years my junior the same. His pain is now worse after two surgeries & he has a rod in his back .. how sweet is that?
poor guy
Night luv.. I hope you had a good anniversary. did you have dinner out?
You & your hubby are really a nice & an attractive couple! ...
I have lots of pix of you & others & him & others.. grrrr..
Here is one of the group. ... for all who dont know.. the anniversary couple is in the front row sitting!
Thank you, Dolly, for your good wishes.
It was a great anniversary and we went to our favorite
restauran, Manuel’s, where we also had our wedding luncheon.
Goodnight, Dolly! See you. Have a great weekend. Thanks for
sharing that picture with everyone. It was a very special
time for all of us!
(((hugs)))
The Rods in the Back are the Next Surgery for me if I ever have Another One, but I'll not Get Another One Unless I Get to where I can't Move At All. I've Heard that Most Back Surgeries don't have Good Results. :( I'm Sorry your Brother is in Pain, and I've Read a Lot of Horrible Stories on the 'Net of People who have had 10 or More Back Surgeries, and their Lives are a Nightmare. Dolly, I had No Idea of the Extent of your Back Trouble; Advanced Arthritis, Stenosis of the Spinal Cord, 3 Herniated Discs, Osteoporosis...Bless your Heart! I still have a 9mm Herniation they didn't Operate on, and Arthritis on the Facets by it, and Some Stenosis, but these Things are not Nearly as Bad as yours. They Excised the 2 Herniations they Felt were Causing me the Most Pain. To Do Away with the 9mm they would have to Do a Spinal Fushion, which I Pray I'll Never Get.
Dolly, have you Tried those Inversion Devices? You May have Tried Everything at your Chiropractor. Before my Surgery, my Chiropractor Put me in a Machine that Pulled on my Spine and Decompressed it, and it Helped Some. Hot Showers are Another Thing that Helps me, but I haven't had Any Luck with Topical Creams.
Your Mom Sounds So Nice, my Sister in Christ. Amidst All the Trials of Life, having her there would be a Blessing.
Great picture, Dolly! So, who’s the rest? (I’m going to meet them in May, up here in AZ.)
P.S. You and Kitty will have FRmail (regarding back pain) in about five minutes!
dutchess, here's a big THANK YOU for a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L layout job for Thurday's thread! Your. Very. Best. Thread. To date! You're amazing! Thanks for all you do {{{{{{{{{dutchess}}}}}}}}}}, and thanks y'all for dropping by {{{{{{{{group hug}}}}}}}}!
thank you kitty. My mom is basically a nice worman. She has had her moments over the years & at the core is pretty good hearted . She has her whole life been a bit demanding. At the core is a lot of insecurity I think.& materialism... brought on by living thru depression to a degree.
I am glad to still have her with me & I am the one that has gained the most. Surely not money & not health but learning about my self & the lessons of God that you do NOT learn in books, but only through adversity & through life’s rough spots.

In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business, Neil Postman warns us of the danger of a world of information overload. He reminds us of a chilling futuristic visionAldous Huxley's Brave New World, which describes a world thoroughly flooded with information. But that data is manipulated so that none of it has any significance.
A glance at the Internet or a magazine rack hints that we are living in just such a culture. We're drowning in a sea of information often marketed by the unscrupulous. We need discernment to choose wisely whom we will listen to.
In John 6, Jesus delivered His "I am the bread of life" message (v.35). It was a sermon so controversial that, at its conclusion, many of His followers went away and stopped following Him (v.66). They chose to stop listening to the voice of Christ. When Jesus challenged His disciples as to whether they would also walk away, Peter wisely responded, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" (v.68).
In a world swamped with confusing and contradictory information, we can, like Peter, turn to Christ for wisdom. He cuts through the words of confusion with words of life. Bill Crowder
There's so much wisdom to be learned,
So many ways for me to grow,
Lord, I would listen like a child,
And learn what You would have me know. K. De Haan
If you want to be wise, listen to Jesus.

In his historical novel Chesapeake, James Michener tells the story of multiple generations living near a marsh. One character, Chris Pflaum, is introduced as a restless 13-year-old sitting in class waiting for summer break. But when the teacher reads a poem by Sidney Lanier, the boy's heart is stirred.
As the marsh-hen secretly builds on the watery sod,
Behold I will build me a nest on the greatness of God:
I will fly in the greatness of God as the marsh-hen flies
In the freedom that fills all the space 'twixt the marsh and the skies.
When Chris grew up, this poem motivated him to work tirelessly to preserve the precious wetlands and the wildlife he loved.
The poem's words stir the heart because they use nature as a springboard of praise to the Creator. But, unfortunately, our living planet can be neglected and exploited. God's mandate to Adam has been passed on to all believers. "The Lord God . . . put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it" (Gen. 2:15). The words tend and keep mean "to cultivate as servants."
We are to care for and guard God's creation as responsible stewards.
A blessed Lord's Day to you, as well!
Good morning to all of the Finest!
