Idol contestant, Kristy Lee Cook, brings down the American Idol House tonight with rendition of Lee Greenwood's mega hit: |
PING...?
Pickler visited Forward Operating Base Kalsu to lend her voice to help boost Soldier morale. Pickler, whose visit was part of a six-day tour throughout Iraq, said she volunteered to perform at smaller bases like Kalsu that are often overlooked by performers. It is nice to come and bring a little bit of home to the Soldiers, Pickler said.
Underwood gave a concert at Camp Buehring, a few hours away from Camp Arifjan, before heading to Iraq for additional concerts. Clutching pictures and CDs of Underwood, service members of all ranks and ages asked her to sign memorabilia for family members and themselves before taking a quick picture capturing the experience of meeting a celebrity while in a combat zone.
I appreciate your comment, and have read part of them. Let me respond tomorrow morning. I appologize, but I have some other projects going on right now.
Take care. Talk to you Friday morning.
Way to go, Kellie and Carrie!
That just warms your heart right there. Thanks for sharing.
FUNNY!!!
SHOCKER or NOT? I sure was shocked. Maybe all that talk about Carly’s $2 million contract, took it’s toll although fan base is definitely what pulled Brooke and Jason through. How can you not put Brooke in the bottom 2 after that big time screw up. Yeah, I felt sorry for her but she had forgotten her lyrics once before. No excuse. Dreads - geeez I don’t even want to talk about him.

Carly: This girl has been the biggest disappointment to me out of the top twelve. She has a very nice powerful voice full of potential. Over the last five weeks, Tuesday night was the single time when she ‘almost’ lived up to her promise. I have never found Jesus Christ Superstar to be my cup of tea, so I don’t care for it as much as the judges, but I did think it was good. I thought that might save her, but Jason and Brooke’s fan club (or whatever) were too powerful to overcome.
One of those two should have gone last week when Kristy was booted after presenting a great performance. Kristy was really coming into her own, and deserved to stay longer. Girl couldn’t dress hereself if her life depended on it. Her audition look was never achieved again once, during her participation on American Idol. During her audition she was breathtakingly cute.
Sayesha: All season I have talked about Sayesha having a great voice. This week and last, she has come closer to her true potential than ever before IMO. That saved her. If she would have had a medeocre performance on Tuesday, she would have been booted. I would seriously urge this girl to get some help with song choices, clothing and hair. She is not realizing her full potential IMO.
David Archuletta: The kid has an excellent voice. His interview timidity seems to be playing well with the teeny-bopper chicks. It wears somewhat thin with me, but he has a great voice and should be in the final two IMO.
David Cook: This guy is phenominal. He’s got a rocker voice, but it’s a soft rock sound and should have a broad appeal. His songs seem to be unique, edgey and exactly what the judges seem to want. And I think they’re right to do so. I was honestly surprised by his Phantom song on Tuesday night. That was a hard song, and this kid not only pulled it out, but wow... IMO, at this point David deserves the win.
Brooke: As a person I like Brooke. As for signing... as a person I like Brooke. I had not honestly expected the Carly Simon genre to prevail here. Every one of her songs sound alike to me. Her voice is nice. She looks nice. She is nice. Voting for her because she is nice, isn’t. It was unforgivable to keep her and send someone else home after her forgetting her words. This is the second time she has had to start a song over. Contestants were sent home in the first round for forgetting their lyrics. So instead of Brooke going home, someone who remembered their words and put in a great performance did. Brooke just went to zero points in my book.
Jason: Sanjaya lives. I’ve been saying it for about six weeks now. This guy has no depth to his voice whatsoever. He is capable of spitting out the lyrics from a place never lower than his voice box. The others belt it out from their stomachs. The sad thing here is that the judges continue to give this pretender a pass. Look, top 100 perhaps... tip five, are these judges fricken kidding me? If Jason were competing with the 20-40 spot positions from last year, I think he wins that contest. The field was so strong this year, he should never have been part of the top twelve. They pulled him in for the look and the variety. Then the teeny-boppers signed on and the rest was history. Tell me Jason is better than Michael Johns. Tell me he is better than Kristie Cook. Tell me he’s better than Carly. Hell no. I don’t even think he’s better than the Asian girl they sent home three weeks ago. Jason has got to go. I say this, because if he doesn’t, better talent will have to. If American Idol wants to be outed for being a complete waste of time, where cute beats talent, then they judges should praise Jason each week, and watch the prestige of the show wind up in the toilet. Otherwise they better get with the program and start addressing this kid for the lack of tallent that he is. Otherwise he’s going to the top three, outlasting no less than six contestants who had more tallent.
Ping to above post...
My sentiments exactly about Jesus Christ Superstar but Carly really belted it out and put her heart and soul into it. And then Jason sings that pathetic song, does horribly and is still around. WRONG WRONG WRONG He never belonged in the top 12 much less the top 5 now. Those giggly little twits are really ticking me off now.
My friend informed me that Brooke is now the new ticket on votefortheworst.com She messed up yet again, and I agree with you - Brooke gets 0 points in my book. Brooke is nice and so is her voice but with 2 screw ups and her voice sounding the same quite often, her show should end soon.
I believe that Syesha was fabulous. You don’t think she looked fabulous with her hair flattened and pulled back and that gorgeous red dress? She was very flirty and I wondered who she was! She finally came out of her shell, IMO and showed the fun side and what a wonderful voice she has.
No doubt, David Archuleta has a terrific voice. Yeah, that timid giggly, goofy act doesn’t sit well with me. Really gets on my nerves. I think he needs more time to grow.
Phenomenal: Perfect word for David Cook. That song is not my cup of tea at all and I was blown away by his performance. Damn, this guy can sing anything. If he put that song out as a single, I would buy it because he used his rock voice, but also the softer side of his voice. Unique and edgy - again perfect words for Cook’s performances.
I really think it is going to come down to the Davids. My bet is on David Cook and I will most likely be voting for him. I don’t want another shocker, and I think Cook is the most deserving to win.
Yep we’re on the same page with Carly and Sanjaya.
As for Brooke, I agree that she is a nice girl/woman. I like her, I just don’t see her staying while others go. And that’s what it should come down to, at every stage of the game.
I commented to my wife that I didn’t like Syesha’s hair do. I think she has a cute face, but it’s a face that needs framing. Some women can go with the short hair look, and others can’t. I’m not sure how closely you watched the elimination show last night, but there was a segment about Clay and another girl performing on Broadway now. The Black girl was a perfect example of what I am referencing. They showed her in a clip from her performance on American Idol, when she had hair. What a cutie she was. Her face was adorable. When they showed her current look, she had no hair and she looked very very plain. I checked out both faces to see if her face had changed. It hadn’t. The short ‘guy like’ haircut just destroys some women’s looks. Others have bold features that look good both ways. Jada Penkett Smith is a woman who looks great with short hair.
As for Sayesha’s performance, I do think it was very good. I liked her dress as well. It did show that she is starting to think outside the box with her clothing and even her hair. I just thought the hair was a mistake. I do think she needs to do something with it, but short doesn’t work (for me). Once this season she had her hair up with it flattened down on one side. That was a nice look for her.
I agree with your comments about Archuletta needing time to grow. I agree. I’m not convinced he couldn’t win in other years, but this year I agree with you that David Cook has changed it up so much, and put so much spice in his singing, that it would be wrong for him not to win. My fear is that Mr. Dredds could possibly unseat one of the Davids, and that would be extremely unfortunate.
Jason is a ‘Bobby Sherman’ singer. He’s a flash in the pan. He has not talent, and as soon as he has one album out, he’s history. I hate to say it, but I think Brooke is nearly as bad. That sound of hers would tend to grate after an album or two. She has the winey swoon to her songs that would drive me nuts after a bit. It’s already wearing thing. David C., David A., or Syesha would sell album after album. That’s what you want.
I’m not going to remember both their names, but they have had two rockers on the program in recent seasons. One was Dautry. The other was the guy with the long dark brown hair.
I liked some of what both these guys did, but in general terms they were too hard rock for me. I like David C. because he has a softer tone to him. He’s edgey but not over the top. He also has a good sense of how to turn a song to his advantage, is quite creative and has a lot of depth to his voice.
His performance last night made it clear, he could easily carry the lead in a remake of Phantom of the Operah. The guy has a lot of talent, and I say the sky is truly the limit when it comes to his abilities.
He is by far the best performer this season, and I hope that justice is done by him, and he gets the top spot.
I am very worried about Jason. He is gliding by, and thinks it’s all based on his talent. Watch the kid. He thinks he’s Elvis. He’s oblivious, has already effected the show quite negatively and is poised to continue to do it.
He has to go.
Bo Bice is probably the other rocker you are referring to. I bought his CD too! He lost out to Carrie Underwood.
I totally agree with all that you have said about David Cook. I am a hard rocker and now and then hard rock does have some soft ballads! Really though, the sky is the limit for Cook. Also, in a good way, not the so obvious way, he is a sensitive guy. I can tell that his brother having cancer is realy affecting him, but he manages to be consistent and professional, week after week. Also, did you notice that he seemed pretty shocked about Carly and Syesha?
Do you really think Jason believes it is his talent? Maybe he is just snickering because he knows damn well it isn’t his talent and all those girls melt at the very sight of him. You are right though, Jason needs to go and has needed to go long before this. Question is, how does he go? My friend and I are gathering up as many people as we can to vote for Cook. You want to help out?
Right, it was Bo Bice. I liked the guy, but I wasn’t a big fan of his music. I did like some of it, but it wouldn’t be my first choice if I were to put music on. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of music tastes by the nation. I note rap hasn’t reared it’s ugly head at AI yet. PTL
Yes David C. was shocked. I think others were as well. I wonder what Brooke was thinking, to see the other girls take her place I think she probably felt guilty, but our buddy Jason didn’t have a twinge, I can guarantee you.
You should give David C. your support. I do want to support Syesha for another week or two. Now that Carly is gone, she deserves to be in the top three IMO. After Jason and Brooke are gone, I’ll vote for David C.
I don’t have any doubts that David C. will be in the top two. If he doesn’t make it, I won’t be watching next year.
We all have our first choices in music. That would be very interesting to see a breakdown of music tastes by the nation. Yeah, thank goodness rap has not reared it’s ugly head but there is a new show on MTV that is a Rap competition. It can stay there!
Yep, Jason keeps on living the high life while these contestants are unfairly eliminated. He can ride the wave a bit longer, but eventually like Sanjaya, he will be going BYE BYE. I agree about Syesha. She should be in the top 3.
I guess we are in the same boat. I feel if Cook doesn’t make it to the top, I won’t watch next year.
I like the whole photo :)
I thought she looked the cutest when she auditioned. That red white and blue outfit was stellar. Since then she very seldom if ever looked quite as good on the show.
That is a nice photo there isn’t it.
I think she has a future in country music.
Personally, I don’t think you are reading too much into it. Why on earth would he not be standing up with the others respectfully as they clap for Michael Johns? That is oblivious or down right ignorant. I think he does know damn well he is lucky to be there and just taking it for granted. He has got to go. Next week - some how and some way!
