Hardball had some fun at Hillary's expense this evening over the mystery of The Sniper Who Didn't Fire. Credit Politico's Roger Simon with making the panel's most devastating remark.
Hillary's Heminwayesque claim has been that "we used to say in the White House that if a place is too dangerous, too small or too poor, send the First Lady." Chatting with host Chris Matthews, Bloomberg's Margaret Carlson, and Perry Bacon of WaPo, Simon observed what in retrospect might be obvious but something I hadn't previously heard anyone else remark.
ROGER SIMON: She says I was there because it was too dangerous for the President. It was too dangerous--so he sent his wife and only child? It makes no sense.

Of course it was dangerous, and there was a massacre at Racak, and the Serbs shelled the Sarajevo market, and the Pristina soccer stadium was used as a concentration camp, and Ibrahim Rugova was murdered, and the ICRC didn’t see thousands of fighters leaving the Srebrenica enclave, . . .

Wow, Shrillary and Chelsea were traveling in such historic times, and they thought Bosnia was where all the action was!! Now we know why Bill Clinton was so eager to send his wife and daughter on that trip.
