Okay, I’ve got to get cooking my Easter ham but I’ll throw my prediction out there.

I think Obama is dead meat. No way he can win in November, just no way at all. Even my niece the beautician said, when I mentioned Obama to her, that he was “dead meat”. and you know how I can’t on those ladies in the beauty parlor.

Now I don’t think the Dems are going to sit back and nominate a guy they know cannot possibly win. That’s one where I differ from you AB. If you think the Dems are going to go ahead and nominate a guy who can’t possibly win , for the PRESIDENCY, mind you, I got a bridge to sell you cheap.

This especially when they’ve got Hillary who’s got a hell of a chance to win if Obama is out of the way. Understand I don’t want Hillary to win but I’m thinking like a Dem here.

Now what has to happen is that Hillary needs to win the POPULAR vote in the remaining primaries and what with Obama so dead, as I see it, it COULD happen. PA has a lot of voters and there’s a few other primaries left. Last I heard, correct me if I’m wrong, is that Obama’s beating Hillary in the popular vote by a hundred grand or so.

So if Hill wins the popular vote in the primary, and Obama is declared unelectable by the Dem poohbahs, which he will be because he is, duh, unelectable. He’ll not survive the next seven months with the Rev. Wright on Youtubes across the fruited plains. Not to mention his white grandmother comments.

So the so-called super-delegates swing their votes to Hill which they will from the pressure of, yeah, the Clintons, but also common sense. Why nominate a guy without a chance to win?

One more major caveat. There’s always the issue of resentment, rancor, possibly riots by the black folk who will likely feel disenfranchised by the Dem party they’ve worked so hard to support through the years.

simple. Some Dem party elder approaches Obama yo mama and promises him...I dunno, the moon, the stars, a cabinet post, a 2012 run with the full support of the Dem party if he gets the hell away from that reverund....whatever it takes they get Obama to resign HIMSELF.

Obama asks his followers to hold any anger, that he intends to get some more experience and exposure, that he will be back after soul-searching and Hillary serves her two terms.

To think that the Dems are going to sit back and give McCain this next election, that Hill’s going to sit back and let unelectable Obama run to a huge landslide loss, well you give the Dems credit for too much decency.

Could happen but I think it’s a long shot.

Prediction: Hillary will drop out of the race before the convention to avoid a bloody fight. The DNC will make her an offer she can’t refuse.

I agree with your Post #82. If the ladies at the beauty shop say Obama's "dead meat", he's dead meat. That likely means all their friends have heard about it and are saying the same thing.

It would be "racist", of course, for them to even think that way. But as they now have the courage to say it out loud it means there must be a lot of disgust percolating around out there. People are getting tired of being tagged as a racist just for believin' their own lyin' eyes!

Hillary will have a steep hill (sic) to climb to get the nomination and election but I have a lot of faith in the Klinton Krime Family. It is a well oiled, ruthless, and capable machine which stops at nothing to which to stoop. As an added bonus, she is running against McCain, who is the weakest candidate we could field. Even half of his own Party cringe and roll their eyes at the thought of voting for him.

The GOP should be sitting in the catbird seat this election. Instead, most of us find ourselves wallowing in disgust at where we sit today. We have been well and truly snookered... (the "f word" automatically presents itself here, but this is a family forum)... by the Media, the Democrats, and our own "Republican" establishment.

McCain's best hope is to pick a strong and attractive Conservative running mate. But I'm confident he will simply pick some lame-o moderate to appeal to his "friends" across the aisle.

*sigh*

A correction or two, Fishtalk...

Obama leads Hillary in the popular vote by around 750,000 — so Clinton need to win the remaining primaries with around a 64% majority of the remaining popular vote to pick up enough delegates to win the delegate (non-super) count... I don’t know what that might do to close the gap in actual popular vote cast (and these numbers exclude Florida and Michigan).

So I don’t discount the rest of your prediction — but Hillary and the Dems will have to steal it from Obama, I suspect. I won’t be at all surprised because I just don’t see Hillary waiting another 4 years. This is HER TIME! And the Master will be served!

And I don’t think there’s anything the Democrat party leaders can offer Hillary to prevent her from making a catastrophe out of this years convention/pursuit of her prize. This has been a lifelong ambition and the Shrew will not be denied.

The reason I’d disagree is due to the caveat you mentioned. If, and that’s a big IF, they can get Obama to agree to step down, maybe, but I don’t think he will. And doesn’t a major Clintonista like Richardson jumping ship tell you that that very tactic isn’t going to work?

Things are happening between the campaign powers-that-be and dem leaders that aren’t in the press. I think Richardson’s move is very telling as to what’s occuring far below the conventional radar.
