Thanks I will, and the same to you and everyone here today.

I figure I have three minutes left so I’ll check it all later on today IF I can.

Bye-bye

McCain did win. I'm not convinced he won fair and square but he did win within the rules laid out before him. IMHO we had several good Conservative candidates. Since the conservatives of the party could not come to a consensus the party leaders got their candidate as our nominee.

They are now discussing Mrs. Clinton’s liberalism coming from her Methodist church.

I doubt that is where she got infected. People tend to get converted to Liberalism elsewhere but then find a church which confirms their already established beliefs. Sitting in a hostile environment and listening to a lie week after week will usually do that to you so one tends to go and stay where one is comfortable. Therefore, one will find liberal churches full of Liberals.

In my observation and experience a true believer tends to look at church differently than just a nice place to park on Sunday morning.

I used to belong to the United Methodist Church yet remained a staunch Conservative despite the obvious Liberal bias of the church and it's pastors. It didn't make a huge difference because I didn't take the whole religion thing too seriously and, besides, I was raised in that church.

In fact, my last pastor (and his pastor wife) were both huge Liberals and big antiwar demonstrators and "peace" activists. They used to take certain Sundays off to go listen to all the antiwar sermons being preached at the Riverside Church in New York City. Nonetheless, I stayed and got into rather heated discussions with them on their political views - but I was always hopeful of changing their minds (fat chance!).

My perpective radically changed, though, when I got saved. Once I saw the Gospel for what it genuinely is, I could no longer stay and pretend where I sat in the pew didn't make a difference any more while all the while trying to make political converts out of apostates. I had to leave and go to a church which preached and believed the Bible - not some radical form of social gospel. It was no longer about politics or other superficial reasons. It was about Truth.

But, people who aren't really saved (Hillary? Obama?) don't necessarily know or care about the difference. They can stay around for the socialization and unBiblical preaching and not care. It is especially true if they agree with whatever tripe is being preached.

I guess that brings us back to Obama again, doesn't it...?

Does anyone have a plausible answer, which will be accepted by small children, to the question, “Grandpa, how come there are no Peeps in our Easter baskets again this year?”

The same thing is happening with conservatives in the GOP party.

Shame on you not knowing what soldiers are especially as I posted a picture of them.

They are a slice of bread buttered and cut into strips. It is a way that Brits traditionally have got young children to eat a boiled egg with dipping the soldiers in the dare I say it runny egg (are we allowed that anymore :o)

I can remember even seeing kits in the shop with egg cups the body and legs of the soldier and the egg cosy a soldiers hat, something like a bearskin or hats you see in children's story books for soldiers, then you were supposed to draw the head yourself.

snugs, I have to admit I didn’t know what the heck was in that picture but thanks for the interesting explanation.

Sounds like the first step on the road to making french toast. All you need now is to sprinkle with cinnamon, fry in butter and add powdered sugar.

Then I will salute.

P.S. I gave up sweets for Lent. I hope no one will believe me when I say that at 12:01 this morning I was eating chocolate pudding.

Judith A. Klinghofer cites a passage from Barack Obama’s first autobiography to remember when listening to his speech today:

On p. 94-95 he describes an effective tactic to deal with White people:

It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied; they were relieved - such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn’t seem angry all the time.
