Barack Obama belongs to an unabashedly Black African-centered church. Its teachings focus on a "black value" system. It has knowledgeable Americans questioning how Obama's church (Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ) and its pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr. influence the man who wants to be President of the United States.
Why couldn't Obama have chosen to be a Methodist, a Pentecostal or a Lutheran? What drew him to a church that many find questionable?
Many Americans attend churches their parents attended. Others choose denominations where they are comfortable with the teachings.
As a whole, the United Church of Christ does not teach black liberation theology. The main Conference of the denomination is responsible for the theological teachings of its churches and the manner in which they are presented.
The nagging question begs to be answered. Why would the top Democrat presidential candidate feel more comfortable attending an Afrocentric church? Obama's attendance at a church that encourages blacks to separate themselves from the rest of American society must be explained. How can he claim to be able to unite and reach across to all the people in the nation?

Because Osama Obama is a congenital liar. He and Wright want to turn Martin Luther King's "I have a dream," into a national nightmare.
I thought his bitchy wife made him join that church.
Wright constantly calls the atom bombings of Japan evil. Obama vows not to develop any new American nuclear weapons.
Wright castigates America for villifying Castro, Qaddafi, et al. Obama promises to meet with them all without conditions.
Obama's speech today was almost insane in that he attributed every issue to a class struggle against evil corporations. Pure anti capitalism, just like the Reverand.

"If God is not for us and against white people," writes Cone, "then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."

On national television, during an Interview with Hannity - Rev. Wright himself claimed he was a student, follower and preacher of "Black Liberation Theology"....
The author of this article is trying to separate Obama from the 100% racist, hateful and segregationist dogma of "Black Liberation Theology"..

The theologian (Cone) explains:
Christ is black therefore not because of some cultural or psychological need of black people, but because and only because Christ really enters into our world where the poor were despised and the black are, disclosing that he is with them enduring humiliation and pain and transforming oppressed slaves into liberating servants.
Rather than viewing God as a sovereign being who does as he wills according to his purposes, Cone insists God must do what we want him to do, or we must reject him.
What the black community wants, Cone says, is for God to assist in its goal of destroying "the white enemy."
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community

This is hardly, "Christian"!
Every American black who wants to be “liberated”, can simply leave the US and become a citizen of another country. Nobody is stopping them.
He joined for the mundane political benefits it would bestow upon an aspiring black politician in Chicago.
Same reason a certain type of lawyer, Realtor, or car salesman look for a "prosperous" church to join.
It is interesting to note that, while The United Church of Christ “doesn’t” teach Black Liberation Theology, Trinity United Church of Christ most assuredly is steeped in it, and DOES teach it.
The national high poobah of the United Church of Christ is “a little, old white lady”, who is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Also interesting to note is an assertion I saw from the national leadership, that Trinity is considered a ‘flagship church” in the denomination; and a “destination church” for any UCC members visiting the Chicago area.
IF the UCC doesn’t generally teach BLT, they certainly understand & condone it nationally.
