Nailed by Patriot Act.

Ergo Bush's fault!

Supreme arrogance makes people like Spitzer think the rules don't apply to them.

Laws are for serfs, not the ruling class, donchaknow.

As attorney general you'd think he wouldn't be so naive and stupid

Sheesh any crook worth his salt would have told him to use a bag man to arrange the payment and details of the "transaction".

Yeah, I'd bet the person gets a thorough anal exam by the IRS soon.

Why would they? The IRS was in on the investigation.

If Wall St. bankers weren't such a bunch of old softies, I'd wonder whether this was payback for Spitzer’s campaigns against them.If Wall St. bankers weren't such a bunch of old softies, I'd wonder whether this was payback for Spitzer’s campaigns against them. Perhaps a SPOUSE of a Wall Street trader did this, as a comeuppance............

Sounds like if he didn’t make the call, they wouldn’t have cared.

Yes, the article makes it sound like his second thoughts woke up the bank employee.

“Man, someone had a large set of nads at that bank! Can you imagine turning in the Governor of NY?”

They just filled out a standard form that is required by law. Banks fill out these forms for everyone.

I work for a bank and right now involved in the rollout of their new AML monitoring system. Spitzer must of been moving a lot of large sums around because there are special watch lists for PEP (politically exposed persons) that are scored very differently than your average bank customer.

The schmuck must of really got sloppy considering how much experience he had in dealing with fraud and money laundering.

I know it's required by law and I know they fill these forms out for a lot of people BUT not every name at the top of the form is the Governor of NEW YORK STATE! Had to be nerve wracking for the bank.

I just don’t get it. I mean a hooker for crying in the night, when his wife is pretty hot.
I asked my dear wife what she thought. “It isn’t about the sex” That sounds like Bill Clinton. “It is his willingness to risk everything for the thrill of maybe getting caught.”, she said.

Well, that sure jumped up and bit him is the A55 didn’t it?

Why would they? The IRS was in on the investigation.

As a payback at the behest of the NY demonRat political machine.

The IRS is not anyone's friend, but can be used as a powerful weapon.

Remember the Clinton administration? They loved using the IRS to crush their enemies.

“the transfer of the money that exceeded $10,000, but had been broken down into smaller amounts, the sources said.”

What is known as structuring - breaking up cash among various banks to avoid the cash limit.

“IRC, patriot act 2 dropped this dollar amount to 5K anyway.”

Which means that pretty much anyone could become the subject of an IRS investigation and the paperwork for banks is going to be huge. The US is morphing into a police state before our eyes. Does anyone doubt that a Democrat administration will use the Patriot act via the IRS to attack it's political enemies?

Will he go to jail? Unlikely. Dems don’t go to jail. They make deals. Ordinary citizens go to jail.

There are about 15 Republicans in New York. Perhaps one of them worked at Spitzer's bank?
