Clinton Says ‘No’ to a Caucus Do-Over
USNews ^ | March 7, 2008 | Kenneth T. Walsh

Hillary Clinton says the Democratic Party is stuck in a very tough spot as party leaders debate whether—and how—to seat delegates from Florida and Michigan at the nominating convention this August. And Clinton's latest comments, in an interview with U.S. News yesterday, won't make resolving the fuss any easier.

Many Democrats want a revote in both states, since the Democratic National Committee disqualified all their delegates because the states' primaries were held too early in violation of party rules. Some party officials are suggesting caucuses as an option to get the delegates qualified—but that doesn't pass muster with Clinton. "I would not accept a caucus," she told us. "I think that would be a great disservice to the 2 million people who turned out and voted. I think that they want their votes counted."

Florida held its primary January 29 and Michigan January 15. Clinton won both, although Obama's name wasn't on the ballot in Michigan and both candidates agreed not to campaign in either state, in deference to party rules.

One statement by Hillary Clinton is totally wrong....

with respect to Florida the Democrats were dragged into doing what they did by a Republican governor and a Republican Legislature.

Nearly all the Florida Legislators voted to move up the primary....

"I think that would be a great disservice to the 2 million people who turned out and voted. I think that they want their votes counted."

As if it's about the pipple's votes and not raw calculation on her part.

Who does she think she's fooling?

Hitchens discussing the lovely Hillary with Hugh Hewitt March 5, 2008:

...whereas with her, you can only imagine her being responsive to one thing, whether it’s Iraq, Iran, Iceland, Latvia, Australia, Argentina, what’s in it for me, and how can I franchise it for the people who financed my political career.

--snip--

And what she was openly saying at the top of her voice is, ‘I am Harold Ickes. I know of no law except that of my own self interest.’ There’s no agreement, there’s no party deal, there’s no bending of the rules we won’t commit.

--snip--

No, no, I’ve feared it for a long time, and there’s something horrible and undefeatable about people who have no life except the worship of power.

…people who don’t want the meeting to end, the people who just are unstoppable, who only have one focus, no humanity, no character, nothing but the worship of money and power. They win in the end.

Reminds me of Howard Dean blaming the conservatives on the Supreme Court for Kelo.

Why should I as a Florida taxpayer have to pay for a Democrat do-over? Let these bums hit up George Soros to pay for this nonsense

There are two sets of rules, one for the Clinton's and one for everyone else. The Clinton's can also decide what, when, and how to use the rules, when to apply them and when they need changing.

The people who knew her so well who aren’t afraid of her, Hitchens and Morris for two, are so good at absolutely skewering her!

Don't give in...I think I saw a news report on Google news saying the Governor might help the Dems....see this:

Crist: State should help Dems out of primary jam

**********************EXCERPT************************

TALLAHASSEE --

Gov. Charlie Crist said Friday he'll lobby fellow Republicans this weekend to help the Democratic Party out of its latest elections snafu with a "blended" re-vote plan in which the party would pay for vote-by-mail balloting while the state would oversee it.

"If the Democratic National Committee would be willing to pay for it, the appropriate thing to do would be for the state to oversee it to ensure the integrity of the process as we go forward," said Crist, who discussed the plan with U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

Asked if other lawmakers like the idea, Crist said: "I intend to chat with them this weekend about it."

Exactly right. Would the Clintons be fighting to count those non-binding elections in Florida and Michigan if Obama had won them????

The way Crist was originally talking was the Democrats could hold another primary and Florida would pay for it. IOW a big fat welfare check for the Dems

The election has already been held. She has no intentions of repeating it and have it screwed up with Obama getting more votes. Her strategy....as you approach May...will be legal in nature and force the party to just plain accept the votes, period. They will seat the voters from Michigan and Florida...have no doubt about this. The courts will force them to be seated. The party will not be able to stop this...and she already knows this.

I don’t understand how it would be legal to seat them?
You can’t change the rules you all agreed to at the beginning when you realize your losing (unless your under
six).

I really wish someone would kill this argument. This deceptive and misleading lie keeps being repeated over and over by Clinton, Sen. Nelson and others. Say it enough and people start to believe it.

Why won't the governor of Florida come out at a news conference and call the democrats on it, asking to put up the proof or shut up. It is making the republicans looks like this was all a sinister plot by them.
