What exactly do you have a problem with this specific position as it is stated in these sentences? I'll give you he has been a little left of where I'd like to see him on immigration but these two comments about securing our border and having a legitimate guest worker program are dead on truths.

Actually, I have been a great detractor of his, but I appreciate what he said about dealing with it. ‘First, the borders must all be secure. After that, develop a guest worker program.’

It doesn't say a thing about getting rid of illegals here or of fining those who employ the illegals, but it is finally a more rational view from him.

He said the first duty is to secure the nation's borders and that only once that was done to the satisfaction of border state governors would he work to create a temporary worker program.

What the heck is wrong with that? I swear, some of you people won't be happy until every Mexican is dead.

Judeo-Christian issue? How about this one?

Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work (Jeremiah 22:13)

The whole “temporary worker” issue may be (temporarily) settled by the housing slowdown and the shrinking of the work force.

Without construction taking place, a formerly big job market for illegals is going to be a lot smaller.

And perhaps the unemployed will realize that those other “jobs that Americans don’t want to do” aren’t so bad after all.

the problem is, Mccain never uses the word “fence” or “wall” He only talks about “securing the borders”

If you can’t even say the word, how can you expect him to do the do?

Quit ready into the statement! He said that it is first, a border state issue. The issue of shutting the border is first and foremost and has only to do with border states. Then it is an issue of a guest worker program. States like WA, CO, MI and anywhere else they need guest workers are now included in the discussion.

“Temporary workers” implies that they will go home when the “temporary” work is over.
But McCain says that it is impossible to send these workers home.

Duh.

Bottom line, for those who understand immigration law, is that there already is provision in the current law for all the temporary workers we need. Go here to see how much legal immigration is allowed. http://www.numbersusa.com/PDFs/Immigration%20Organization%20Chart%2001-07.pdf
Pay particular attention to the unskilled worker category.

There also exists in current law every necessary remedy for the illegal alien invasion. No new legislation is required. Just enforce existing law.

We already have a temporary worker program. What McCain really means is amnesty.

secure the nation's borders

That is a meaningless phrase without the context of when and how.

done to the satisfaction of border state governors

And what, exactly, are the requirements that a governor must sign off on to indicate that the border is secure? Heck, several of the border states governors are pro-open borders even now. So we are to trust them on their saying their borders are secure?

McCain knows secure the nation's borders is a meaningless phrase, if it is out of context. After all, this is the same guy who denied ever calling for 'amnesty' several times over the last years.

“It is an emotional issue with America,” McCain continued.

Good thing John has the easygoing patience and mild temperment that will be required to deal with this emotional issue!

(AP: NEW MEASURES PROPOSED BY DHS “If we tattoo bar codes on Americans’ wrists, then we can scan them like groceries. Agricultural and service industry workers will be exempt, due to their value and because Mexico won’t stand for it.” The Department of Homeland Security; “Some nativist terrorists and bigots oppose this latest reasonable proposal to make us all safer and more secure. I have authorized the national guards to hunt them down like dogs.” President Juan McCain, April 2009.)

Ever wonder why Mexican presidential candidates always make a campaign swing through major American cities? Because 10% of Mexico is currently in los Estados Unidos, that’s why.

"We must derail McCain"

What are you going to do if the dems take the presidency and expand their control of the Senate to a 57-43 margin.

If that happens, the dems will abandon the AgJobs compromise and the McCain-Kennedy compromise. The dems will be pushing for more permanent visas and fewer temporary visas.

Using the word “Fence” in front of Mccain is like using “Hussein” in front of Obama

"Derail McCain so you can have Hill-bama who will give amnesty to more and quicker? Smart!"

The only hope (not certainty) that amnesty will be stopped is with Hill-bama and a Republican congress that will fight back. With McCain, he will propose amnesty and Republicans will not be allowed to go against their own guy.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the motivations of politicians - it’s self-interest and power. With Mccain as POTUS R’s will fallinto line behind Mccain no matter what he proposes. With HillObama R’s will attack her no matter what.”

Amen.

McCain is hauling around the same load of manure and trying to sell it as something new and different.

It still stinks like the old load of crap.

The trouble is, whether McCain, Obama or Clinton, they all are going to be pushing for amnesty for illegals, just like their predecessor has.
